We can’t wait to have some of the top prospects from the area with us at the gym and will use the days leading up to the event to present some of the most talented players who will be on the court on Saturday. Here are five middles you should make sure to watch.
Paugh was one of the most exciting freshmen to watch in the middle in the last club season and she did an excellent job moving to outside hitter during high school. She’s a player that checks all the boxes when it comes to having the tools to be a dominant middle as she’s long, physical and extremely mobile. Paugh is extremely effective with her offense and is a solid blocker too. I haven’t watched her over the last few months, but I can bet that the time she spent as a pin hitter has helped her develop other areas of her game and become an even more complete player.

A haven’t watched Brown play that many times, but every time I did, she really impressed me, especially because of her physicality. Few players combine her length and mobility and that makes of her a dominant presence in the middle. Brown has made great strides with her blocking in the last high school season, having registered impressive 145 stuffs for Brennan, but is also a powerful and reliable offensive option down the middle.

Elliot earned some considerable playing time in a loaded Tompkins team that advanced all the way to the Championship match as a freshman and that speaks volumes about her potential. She progressed nicely throughout the season, adding a better understanding of the game to her excellent physical tools and becoming a much more productive player on both sides of the ball. I’ve watched her as recently as last weekend at the FAST Warm Up and she did great.

Menard is another middle with a lot of athleticism who makes a difference on the court. Also capable of playing on the right, she has very quick feet and puts a lot of power and intensity into her offensive approach. Then she gets off the ground well and scores with a pretty effective swing that goes straight down, making it very hard for defenders to get to them. She’s also a solid blocker.

Rawls-Fletcher is not as tall as the other players on this list, but don’t sleep on her. Also a track and field student-athlete, she can jump as high as anyone and is tremendously athletic. Blocking has always been her main strength as she’s capable of not only moving around very quickly, but also going up high at the net and using her long arms to take space from opposing hitters. Rawls-Fletcher has more recently worked on her offense too and her high contact point is a nightmare for those trying to stop her across the net.
