Meet Reese Kincaid, #3 2026 Recruit
In this article:
Name: Reese Kincaid Reese Kincaid 6'2" | OH Central Catholic | 2026 State OR
School: Central Catholic High School
Club Team: OJVA 15 Gold
Height: 6’2″
Position: Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter
Kincaid is an exceptionally mature middle-blocker. Already standing at 6’2″, she is long and lanky. But also incredibly athletic with body control that is not often seen at 14 years old. Most athletes that have grown very tall very fast take some time adjusting to their limbs and figuring out how it all connects, but that was not the case for Kincaid. She moves on the court like a seasoned player. Her reach on the ball from the middle is so high that she often swings above the block. She is fast and makes herself available in transition consistently, no matter what the play call is. While she is able to terminate on any set, the quick seems to be her best attack right now. A versatile athlete, she can also hit from the left pin when given the opportunity. She spent the last club season and the beginning of high school season on the outside but has transitioned back into the middle recently. She has an excellent eye for blocking and moves well laterally to close at the pins. She does an exceptional job sealing with the net to shut down many hitters.
This high school season was a breakout one for Kincaid. She was able to not only make it on the varsity team at Central Catholic, a historically dominant program but was able to make an impression from day one. Playing wherever was asked of her, she was a top offensive and defensive contributor from anywhere on the court. She started out the season on the outside, but injuries and line-up changes brought her back to the middle. She was able to make an impact from both positions but really shined in the middle. And her dominant play did not go unnoticed. She was awarded Mt. Hood Second Team All-League.
With her height, athleticism, work ethic, and natural capabilities, it will be exciting to see Kincaid progress over the next few seasons.
~ From Central Catholic head coach Kayla Hambley“Reese was an integral part of our offense this year, a starting freshman at the varsity level is very rare, and she did this with ease. Playing almost every position across the front row, Reese’s contributions as a hitter and blocker were way beyond those expected of any freshman. She is a focused and intentional player; we are so excited for three more seasons.”
I had the chance to email back and forth with Kincaid, and she answered some questions for us:
1. Why did you choose to play volleyball?
I chose to play volleyball because my older cousin Taylor Guerra Taylor Guerra 5'10" | S Westview | 2024 State OR started to play, and I had always looked up to her. She quickly became my role model and encouraged me to sign up for CYO in third grade. After that, I developed a strong passion for volleyball that still motivates me today.
2. What is your favorite volleyball memory?
My favorite volleyball memory was winning the CEVA 14s regional title with my OJVA 14-1 team when I was in seventh grade. We were undefeated going into the regional tournament and expected only two teams to give us a battle. In our championship game, we played Webfoot 14-1 and won the first set. However, in the second set, we made too many mistakes and ended up losing. We came back in the third and fought for a win. I remember the feeling of all of the season’s work paying off and my team’s pride in winning first in the region.
3. What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
The best piece of advice that I have received is that sometimes you need to fail in order to succeed. This is really important to me because it reminds me that mistakes are a part of learning and that perfection isn’t realistic. Being able to move on from my mistakes helps me to put aside my perfectionism and play with stable mental toughness.
4. What are your goals for your volleyball career?
At Central Catholic, I hope to win a conference title and a state title with my team. As a player, I’ll strive to leave a lasting positive impact and set a good example for the athletes after me. I grew up watching the varsity players in the Central Catholic program and idolized them for their strength and passion for the sport. I wish to be that role model for younger girls in the program as older players were for me. After high school, I aim to earn a scholarship to play volleyball in college and compete at the highest level possible.
