Michigan Top 250: Top Liberos

One of the biggest up-and-coming hot beds of volleyball talent in America, the Michigan Top 250 was stacked from top to bottom. Some of the top names in the Mitten state were on full display and it made for some amazing volleyball in the UWM Sports Complex!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Every play starts with the pass and defense, and who better to get it started than these 'bros? No ball drops on her side of the court! No matter where the ball ends up, Beaudrie is determined to bring it back and create amazing scoring opportunities. As a court coach put it best, “Beaudrie has that thing you just can't teach”, and it shows when you watch!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='240701' first='Giselle' last='Burlingame'] - 5'1 L - Northville/L2</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Poised for a big club season in 2023, [player_tooltip player_id='240701' first='Giselle' last='Burlingame'] looks to have a bright future ahead. A scrappy defender and a keen sense of the offense. Burlingame has been playing alongside some of the best defenders in the state, and it shows.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='261147' first='Emma' last='Flick'] - 5'2 L - Traverse City West/Northshore</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Not much goes down with [player_tooltip player_id='261147' first='Emma' last='Flick'] in the back court. Taking after her big sister, who was also in attendance, Emma was top notch for the freshman class. She has a great awareness for the court and can make some big plays in big moments.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='226897' first='Charlotte' last='Gramzow'] - 5'8 L - Lutheran/Michigan Elite</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the lengthier liberos, [player_tooltip player_id='226897' first='Charlotte' last='Gramzow'] uses her elongated reach to her advantage. A very steady and calm presence on the court, Gramzow reads the game at a high level. I am excited to see how Gramzow grows in this coming club season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='261172' first='Kailyn' last='Schlepp'] - 5'7 L - Spring Lake/Inside Out</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Unfamiliar with this athlete coming into the showcase, but upon leaving, I will be surely keeping tabs on [player_tooltip player_id='261172' first='Kailyn' last='Schlepp'] throughout the coming season and beyond. I had the pleasure of seeing [player_tooltip player_id='156291' first='Taygan' last='Corstange'] live during the Division 1 post-season a few weeks prior and she caught my eye. Upon the Top 250, I am really curious to see how Corstange does this coming club season. A highly persistent defender that covers a lot of court, Corstange is not a defender you want to mess with.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='261215' first='Zoe' last='Goodwin'] - 5'4 L - Dakota/Michigan Elite</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>What really caught my eye with this player, is her ability to take control of the court and be a natural leader, even in this environment. Her leadership qualities bleed into her play and she owns the back court. [player_tooltip player_id='261215' first='Zoe' last='Goodwin'] reads the ball very well and can better almost every play she's involved in.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='261122' first='Alyssa' last='Jasman'] - 5'3 L - Canton/Michigan Elite</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Catching this player at the tail-end of last club season and seeing her now, I can say [player_tooltip player_id='261122' first='Alyssa' last='Jasman'] is much, much improved. Her technique whether passing or defending the ball is very solid. And seeing the growth in confidence on the court, does Jasman wonders. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='156319' first='Addison' last='Newblatt'] - 5'9 L - Clarkston/Michigan Elite</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Get you and a libero that can do it all! [player_tooltip player_id='156319' first='Addison' last='Newblatt'] came into the Top 250 listed as a libero. While Newblatt's defense and reception is impressive, she doesn't shy away from becoming a point scorer in big plays!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='156321' first='Mckenna' last='Payne'] - 5'7 L - SMCC/Michigan Elite</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another player that can do it all, [player_tooltip player_id='156321' first='Mckenna' last='Payne'] has been well documented for playing many roles throughout the high school season. Finally, in her rightful position, Payne more than thrives. Not the loudest kid on the court, her play speaks volumes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='222364' first='Trista' last='Ameel'] - 5'10 L - Romeo/Michigan Elite</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the tallest 'bros in the gym, [player_tooltip player_id='222364' first='Trista' last='Ameel'] knows how to use her size to her advantage. With a wider reach Ameel can cover quite a bit of ground without doing much. One heck of a defender in left back, Behen follows up with steady ball control and a great touch in her second contact.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='261187' first='Madison' last='Murry-Tinker'] - 5'1 L - Shrine/Michigan Elite</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After an impressive run with Shrine this past season, [player_tooltip player_id='261187' first='Madison' last='Murry-Tinker'] continues to shine at the Top 250 and entering the club season. A fast defender with great technique to her touch, Murry-Tinker stands out amongst the crowd.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='261164' first='Jenna' last='Flick'] - 5'0 L - Traverse City West/Northshore</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the fastest kids on the court, [player_tooltip player_id='261164' first='Jenna' last='Flick'] does not let much drop on her side of the court. When the six on six portion of the expo came on, Flick spent a lot of time in middle back. This is where her speed on the court shined the most. She's a go-getter on the court and a vocal leader.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":4} --> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id='110301' first='Hailey' last='Green'] - 5'1 L - North Branch/Michigan Elite</h4> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Division 2 Prep Dig's Player of the Year was on tap this weekend and, of course, did not disappoint. With the abilities to man the entire court herself, [player_tooltip player_id='110301' first='Hailey' last='Green'] has a great vision for the game in the back court. With some of the cleanest and disciplined kids in the gym, Jensen's technicalities take her a long way. [player_tooltip player_id='261137' first='Delaney' last='Stryjecki'] is another Cougar that balled out in the Michigan Top 250. Vocal, consistent and a workhorse, all the qualities you want to see in a 'bro. No ball was off-limits, Stryjecki makes an effort at every ball and often betters every one she goes after.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
