Of course, our rankings will take on another new form once we get deep into the club season. Our latest updates, including our refresh on the Class of 2025, have been heavily influenced by what we just saw in this fall’s high school season. However, as we count down the days until 2023, we also focus on the club competitors poised for a breakout year.
So, I’ve made a few selections for breakout candidates here. Keep an eye on these 2025s athletes as the club season gets rolling in Nebraska and around the country.
Gish remains a do-it-all frontcourt player to watch in the Nebraska Elite gym. She has made her presence felt as an outside hitter and a middle blocker, so good luck predicting what her primary role might be on this year’s squad. Either way, Gish is poised to have another standout season with a group that has already had its share of national success.
Let’s check in with another Nebraska Elite athlete who has produced some highlight moments along the net. Layson put her high-flying style on full display during Nebraska Elite’s 15 Open breakthrough last season, and we can expect another successful campaign for the Omaha Duchesne standout.
We’ve recently discussed how Livingston played a big part in helping Papillion-La Vista South secure back-to-back state titles this year. The sophomore’s consistency on the pin was an integral part of Papio South’s balanced attack. Now, Livingston can exhibit a similar influence with Premier Nebraska as her club looks to carry on a string of success at the 16s level.
Let’s move over to the Nebraska Juniors gym. This club has a wealth of physical middle blockers that we’ll be featuring throughout the spring, and Ottemann is undoubtedly one of those. The Johnson-Brock prep athlete is coming off a 200-kill sophomore campaign and will prove her worth yet again on the club side.
Osmera is one of several VCNebraska 2025 pin hitters who are poised for big strides in the upcoming club season. This Wahoo standout already knows how to shoulder plenty of attacking volume, as she put down over 300 kills this fall to become one of the state’s most productive sophomores. Expect that same leadership from Osmera in 2023.

You could already call Mayer a breakout player based on what she did with Omaha Marian this fall. She showed her well-rounded backcourt game by passing plenty of balls and wielding a wicked serve from behind the line. Nebraska Elite will be happy to have that production from Mayer at the 16s level.
Time to bring Nebraska ONE into the mix. Gable played a variety of roles on last year’s 15 Synergy team, from right-back defender to emergency frontcourt opposite. Under any circumstances, Gable succeeded. I’m excited to see the Norris athlete bring that same energy to this year’s squad.

Kucks has long been a dominant all-around pin hitter for Premier Nebraska, and that’s while also playing up an age group. Her fearless attitude as a left-side hitter is matched by her ability to take over matches as a backcourt defender. That’s the kind of leader you want on your side of the net.
On to River City! Vitera recently shined at our Nebraska Top 250 Expo, and that should be a great launching point to this year’s club season. Likewise, Vitera’s impact at the middle blocker spot with Papillion-La Vista should keep expanding, so keep close tabs on this 2025 athlete.

Finally, we wrap up this club feature with a Club Legacy pin hitter. Mostek has been steadily elevating her game on the prep side with Blair, and that trend should continue into the first half of 2023.
