Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
How about the other “new” setter in the Norris lineup? Like Rademacher, Gable had typically seen some attacker-defender hybrid roles throughout her prep career. The team’s 2024 lineup put a two-setter offense in play, and Gable was tabbed to help lead it. She showed her setting prowess in the back row and logged a double-double in Saturday’s win over Omaha Skutt Catholic.

It’s no secret that Nebraska ONE 17 Synergy operates through its unflappable ball control. That’s where Gable brings her valuable contributions in a variety of roles. She can sub in for any of 17 Synergy’s pin hitters and boost the team’s defense in any zone. Gable has even filled in as a frontcourt opposite in past seasons. No matter which lineup Nebraska ONE deploys, Gable is able to mesh with her fellow defenders to form an impenetrable end line. We’ll get another reminder of this at GJNC.

Gable is in line for an expanded role with Nebraska ONE 17 Synergy this year. She has been a do-everything player for this team over the past couple of years–including a fill-in stint as a frontcourt opposite. We expect Gable to be a crucial defensive sub throughout 2024 as Synergy hunts its Open bid at future qualifiers. No matter what position she plays in any given match, Gable will help maintain Synergy’s familiar strength in the ball control phase.

Nebraska ONE 16 Synergy is not afraid to wield a platoon of defensive specialists. Gable has always been a vital backcourt contributor, and GJNC offered another stark reminder of her influential role. It doesn’t matter which zone Gable finds herself in the serve receive pattern. She is always ready to take her share of first contacts.

Time to bring Nebraska ONE into the mix. Gable played a variety of roles on last year’s 15 Synergy team, from right-back defender to emergency frontcourt opposite. Under any circumstances, Gable succeeded. I’m excited to see the Norris athlete bring that same energy to this year’s squad.
