There were many good setters in the gym and Chabot was one who stood out to me as having some of the best hands in the building. She was poised and had a good touch on her sets to the pins. I didn’t see her trap a hitter all day. Her ability to make good decisions based on defensive alignment also showed as a strength. She dished out 527 assists in the two setter system this fall for Topeka Seaman as a state qualifier.

Like with the above mentioned Chabot, Wills hands were also fantastic throughout the day. Her sets were butter and in an era where doubles aren’t called as much, I don’t think I saw one questionable set from her all day. Another valuable piece to her game is her defense. When in the right back, she displayed great reaction speed to balls coming her way. This fall she led her squad in assists with 409.
Wadley had a good showing throughout the day. At 5’9″ she has good size which allows her to be aggressive at the net in both sets and trying to score. She brings toughness and determination to the court you want from a setter. She sets a pretty ball and does a good job of getting her middles involved in the offense. In limited varsity action, due to injury, she dished out 113 assists.

Some of the best set placement of the day comes from the freshman Lattimer. Her hitters eyes had to light up when the ball was in the air coming in their direction. She looked poised throughout the day and you wouldn’t had known her age without looking at the prospect breakdown sheet. She is another player who doesn’t rush anything and works hard to get her feet set before letting the ball go. She will be one we are looking forward to following on the Dynasty 15 Black team.

Another young setter that caught my eye was Hackney, making the trip from the eastern part of Missouri. The Rockwood Thunder setter passed the eye test with her play. She didn’t try to do “too much”, which you see at times at showcase events. She stayed in control and made the plays she needed to make for her hitters to find the floor. Her defense was a strength of hers as well. With Eureka graduating two senior setters, we will see if she cracks the lineup in her second high school season.
One of the better jump setters on the day would be the 5’9″ Snodgrass. The Andover Central player used it to perfection to hold the defense and give her hitters more one on one opportunities. We liked her play in right front as well where she got some quality touches on attacks. Her athleticism is an added value on the court. In her junior season she led the team with 8.1 assists per set.

Vogt rounds out our group of setters that stood out during the expo. She is a player that does many things well from the setter position. She is aggressive and will push balls all the way across the court and make good sets. She will attack on the second ball in the defense is caught on their toes. For Jefferson City, she led the team with 430 assists, while also adding 134 kills while playing every set.
