Rev 15-1 Fuego, Court 70 on Saturday at 0900

With a favorable matchup in their first match against Black Swamp (OVR), Rev's 15-1 roster has a ton of size and talent. [player_tooltip player_id='301135' first='Karen' last='Dutro'] ('26, 6-1 MB, Columbus North), a recent transfer from Circle City, has length, strength and a ton of fire when she plays. She's a full-go and no-quit type of player, and should do well with her speed and energy early on Saturday. [player_tooltip player_id='217453' first='Rose' last='Mahin'] ('26, 5-10 OH, Franklin Community) has a hammer for a right shoulder, does well on defense, and is easily coachable. A surprise, to be sure, is finding [player_tooltip player_id='301136' first='Grace' last='Hargis'] ('26, 5-8 S, Avon) on this squad. Coming from west of Indianapolis to Greenfield (well east of Indy), Grace is a 5-1 setter that is smart, athletic and locates the ball well for her attackers. Finally, Hayden Mandsager ('27, 6-0 OH/RS, Cathedral) is our second mention of a class of '27 recruit in as many days. Her all-around game is outstanding, having already accrued points on the USA Beach circuit in previous summers.

Academy 15E Venom, Court 69 on Saturday at 0900

On an adjacent court, the Academy 15-1 squad will have their work cut out for them. Drawing Academy of Cleveland, this "battle of Academies" should come down to early consistency and ball control. The offense? Indy's Academy squad has a ton of that. [player_tooltip player_id='301137' first='Samantha' last='Adams'] ('26, 6-1 MB, Carmel) is a big that uses her length and strength to her advantage. Her foot speed in transition might need to kick it up a notch starting Saturday morning, though. The other middle has quickness for days in [player_tooltip player_id='301138' first='Hayden' last='Ramsey'] ('26, 6-0 MB, New Palestine). I like her max usage of her height to defend from pin to pin. [player_tooltip player_id='301139' first='Macie' last='Smith'] ('26, 6-0 OH, Hamilton Heights) should give fits to opposing blockers, as she can attack from either pin with ease. I'd like to see what Adrianna Williams ('26, 5-10 OH, Indian Creek) can do at the open level, as she comes from a high school that doesn't normally respect volleyball at the club level. Her athleticism alone should carry her to multiple opportunities to show out this weekend.
