Most of the top prospects in the region will be on the court and we’ve been using the week to highlight some of the most promising players who will be battling in the Alamo City over the weekend. Liberos are our topic today and these are some of the best in the business:
The top libero in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, Manitzas will be leading the backcourt efforts of Alamo 18 Premier in the 17-18 Girls division. Her combination of technical skills and leadership is largely beneficial for the teams she plays for and makes of her a real joy to watch. No ball is out of Manitzas’ range when she plays defense simply because she’s going to do everything she can to get to it. Her ball control is also outstanding, making of her a true difference-maker on the backcourt.
Garza will be SA Magic 18 Elite’s floor general in the 17-18 Girls division. She’s a libero who takes great care of her duties on the court, delivering excellent production and making her team better. Garza is extremely solid with her passing and that gives her the confidence to take a large chunk of the court in serve-receive. She’s also very strong on defense, using her quickness to get to balls and her excellent ball control to make plays.

The 17-18 Girls division will be loaded with elite liberos and Fedyk is another one of them. Very consistent and productive, she’s the kind of player that offers a strong level of stability to her team with her play. Fedyk is great with her passing and that’s because she does a very good job of moving to the ball and taking the weight off of it with the angles she’s able to create with her platform. When laying defense, Fedyk benefits from her superior reading of the game to move to the right spots and make ‘easy’ digs.
Highlights
Another phenomenal libero forged by Alamo, Davila will be with 17 Premier as they compete in the 17-18 Girls division. She’s on a level of her own when it comes to serve-receive as she typically covers at least half of the court and still delivers pinpoint passes for her setter to work with. Davila is also a very solid defensive player, who relies on her quickness to get to tips and swings that deflected off the block. Although she’s fairly vocal on the backcourt, she’s one of those players who just lead by example with all her determination and hard work on the back.
Arceneaux is a strong name in the conversation about the top libero in the 16 Girls division. She’ll be playing for SA Juniors 16 Adidas and will be a key player for her team given everything she’s capable of doing on the backcourt for them. One of Arceneaux’s main strengths is her technique – she’s really clean with her actions and always does what she has to do when making contact with the ball. Her high volleyball IQ also allows her to make good decisions and remain focused on the little things even when under pressure.
