The massive event will feature 17 divisions and as many as 414 teams, which will compete in six different venues around the city. There will be some real talent in action in those teams and we’ll take the week to present some of the names that have what it takes to stand out during the ATX Showcase.
In our final piece leading up to the event, let’s feature some exciting right side hitters:
Crowley will be one of the players to look out for in the TAV Houston 15 Adidas team that will appear in the 15 Open division. She’s very complete and can play a variety of different roles, having lined up as a setter for her high school team Providence Classical. That versatility is one of her main assets while playing on the right as she displays an impressive variety of skills and is capable of scoring using power, reach or finesse. Crowley makes a very strong approach to swing and is excellent when hitting a quick set on the right.
Highlights
Gaido is one of the most promising class of 2025 players in Texas, ranking third in our Prep Dig State Rankings. She will be one of the stars of the Austin Skyline 16 Royal squad that will compete in the 16 Open division. Gaido’s 6’5″ frame is obviously the first thing that stands out in her game, but what truly sets her apart is her ability to perform multiple roles on the court while remaining effective with her offense. Originally a middle blocker, she’s great at stopping opponents at the net and can also pass if needed.
Hitting and blocking are probably the two most important skills for a right side hitter and Helms masters both of them. Because of that, she will be a big factor in the campaign of her team United VBA 17 Purple in the 17 Open division. Helms’ offense uses her 6’2″ frame extremely well, but she also has great power to score when in-system and impressive finesse to find solutions to side out off the net. Her blocking is also very productive as besides having great length she also does a very good job of taking up space up at the net.
Highlights
Cori Babb
Cori Babb
An outside hitter for her high school team Hutto, Babb has been playing on the right this season the Austin Skyline 17 Royal team that will make an appearance in the 17 Open division. She’s a skilled offensive player, who likes to hit around the block to score, but certainly has the firepower to deal with the out-of-system sets every right side hitter gets. Babb has a very strong offensive approach and that allows her to jump a few inches higher and hit the ball a little bit harder. She can also pass and play defense at a very good level.
Natalie Ware
Natalie Ware
Another prospect who’s capable on either side of the net, Ware will be used on the right for Renegades 18 Adidas in the 18’s division. Her offense is the highlight of her game as Ware makes contact with the ball at a very high point and is capable of hitting it to very diverse angles. That ability comes in handy when she’s set off the net and has to work harder to avoid opposing defenders. Ware is also a solid backcourt player, who can pass and play some defense.
