The talented athletes battled all weekend to secure wins for their teams, and every position on the court had its share of star performers. Here are several that stood out in Spokane.
Hillman is a versatile player who will play across the front row for her RVC 17 Brenna team. The sophomore is playing up a year, and had no issue competing at the PNQ with athletes in their junior season. Against Seattle Juniors 17, she made an immediate impact with a strong block from her outside hitter spot, then followed it up with a pass to swing sequence where she drove a kill to the open angle. Hillman found that spot to score again in transition off a nice second ball bump set from the libero. She has the athleticism and passing ability to stick as a six-rotation outside, and will make a difference for her Ridgeline team this fall.
The Libero from PSVBA 16 Legacy does an awesome job of reading the attacker and her blockers. She finds the right spot to be, sets her feet and has great reactions o a swing or a change of pace attack. Her platform is consistent in serve receive, she is strong and plays balls overhand with ease. Kora will anticipate and make plays on shots that might score against another defender!

Simmons showed a powerful arm swing at the Convention Center in downtown Spokane over the weekend. Running as the right side in a 6-2 for ITVC 16 Baden, she was an impressive blocker and used her length and timing to make things difficult on the other team’s outside hitters. The team played multiple players on the weekend, using their full roster and finishing in the Gold Bracket before falling to an excellent Texas Legacy squad, 21-25, 21-25.
A six-rotation outside who has good athleticism, Ohman has helped her CPA 16 Drew team to a solid record this season. The team secured the Silver Bracket win at PNQ, coming back to beat NPJ Bend 16 National after dropping a three-set match to NPJ on day one. Ohman can swing from both pins, finding the seam and hitting a controlled roll down the line. She will get off the floor quickly on the block or a joust and flows to the ball on defense. Ohman played the libero spot at times in school ball, her versatility is a big plus.
Smith shows strong hands at the net, recording solid blocks against great competition throughout the tournament, She worked hard against Idaho Crush, throwing up a a big solo block in the second set. On quick sets Smith is finding the seam around the block and away from the middle back to score. Her arm swing is aggressive and she continues to hustle and make herself available in transition.
