Continue ReadingThe Capital City Elite 18-1 National team has shown that they are a dominant team. Currently ranked second in the 18U region (not including teams in the Open division), they are playing some impressive volleyball and staying steady throughout power league tournaments. The group is made up of top notch athletes from in and around the Salem, OR area. The CCE 18 National team is led by Anne Olsen, the current head coach at Sprague High School and recently named 2022 Coach of the Year for the Central Valley Conference. Assisting her is Patti Reeves, who is the assistant coach for Canby High School and who has coached with CCE for three years.
Adria Dixon
Adria Dixon
After a stellar senior season for which she received Central Valley Conference second team honors, Dixon has come into the club season ready to play hard and compete well for her team. So far this season, Dixon typically has been a six-rotation setter and opposite hitter, running a 6-2 with either Mahala McCrae or Natalie Just Natalie Just 5’7″ | S Canby | 2023 State OR . In both positions, Dixon plays steadily and with a high volleyball IQ. She uses her strong hands and quick feet to place excellent sets to her attackers, and has an explosive approach and quick arm swing that she uses to put the ball away from the right side.
Lilly McCargar
Lilly McCargar
McCargar, who earned first team honors for the Tri-River Conference this past high school season, is a blocking machine from the middle. Although she is a bit undersized, McCargar nevertheless manages to get up high and put up a strong and effective block. While McCargar’s blocking and defense is where she truly shines, McCargar is also quick to transition off the net and make fast offensive plays from the middle.
Mahala McCrae
Mahala McCrae
Another Central Valley Conference second team honors recipient for 2022, McCrae is an athletic, powerful player. McCrae hits from the right side and occasionally sets from the back row, and she is steady from both positions. In the front row, McCrae is explosive, and although she is not super tall, she uses her power to consistently put the ball away. At the baseline, McCrae has a tough float serve. And, in the back row, McCrae is a solid setter who places the ball well.
Ruby McNamee
Ruby McNamee
As one of the main liberos for the 18 National team – and yet another 2022 Central Valley Conference second team honors recipient – McNamee is a skilled back row player. She moves around the court effortlessly to play defense and cover her hitters, and she is steady and consistent on serve receive. McNamee is not afraid to fly around the court and give her all to pick up every ball that comes her way.
COMMITTED: Linn-Benton Community College
Reilly is a powerhouse athlete, playing as a six-rotation outside hitter for CCE this club season. Like many of her teammates, Reilly earned second team honors this past high school season for the Mid-Willamette Conference. Her high level of play has translated well into the club season, as Reilly has dominated the court from the front row and the baseline. Reilly has racked up several aces for her team so far with her tough jump float serve. In the front row, she combines a quick approach, explosive jump, and a fast arm swing to consistently put the ball away. In addition to her sheer talent and skill, Reilly also has a strong court presence in general.
