Consider this a prelude to an upcoming flurry of rankings updates.

I've outlined some of the upcoming edits coming to our Nebraska rankings, and we'll be churning out plenty of content associated with those. It's never too early to get a headstart, though, especially with so much to discuss regarding the ongoing club season. So, expect more position-by-position spotlights like these in the next few weeks.

2025 setters take center stage for this one. It's a group that has evolved a lot since they first arrived on the prep scene, and that picture is changing even more during this club season. With that in mind, it feels worthwhile to do a quick check-in with this pack of setters before we dive into some new-look rankings for the Class of 2025.

Here's the rundown.

Dynamic Duos

Many of Nebraska's top 2025 setters appear in pairs on the club side.

A stark example is the setter duo of [player_tooltip player_id='155049' first='Peyton' last='Meyer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='189370' first='Julia' last='Ringenberg'] for Nebraska Elite 16 Maverick. Both of these athletes bring a wealth of high-level experience to a team that qualified in 15 Open last season. We'll keep a close eye on how 16 Maverick chooses to modify its offense around this talented tandem.

Premier 16 Gold is another team that immediately comes to mind when discussing two-setter systems. [player_tooltip player_id='155053' first='Charlee' last='Solomon'] and [player_tooltip player_id='155046' first='Isabel' last='Campie'] have shared setter roles on this team to great effect, but the team has also shown that they can succeed in a 5-1. It's been fascinating to see Solomon occasionally take the reins of 16 Gold herself while Campie shows her versatility as a primary defensive specialist. After a solid showing at NIT, Solomon and Campie will hope to find the right combinations during a crucial stretch of qualifiers.

Hill

Rising Up the Ranks

While those duos have been effective, we've also had our eyes on several other 2025 setters who have stolen the early-season spotlight.

VCNebraska has a couple of 16U setters who have enjoyed a fast start to 2023. It was a privilege to watch [player_tooltip player_id='173517' first='Meghan' last='Anderson'] run the offense for VCNebraska 16 Elite at Triple Crown last month. Her efforts helped 16 Elite reach the challenge round from outside of power pools, yielding a moment on the big stage for this ever-evolving team. I'm also anxious to see Anderson perform on the high school side alongside another 2025 standout in [player_tooltip player_id='155045' first='Brooke' last='Banker'].

[player_tooltip player_id='173537' first='Audrey' last='Waido'] has also been stout for VCNebraska 16 Black. Her squad has gotten a few shoutouts here over the past several weeks, and Waido deserves a lot of credit for her ability to distribute and put her hitters in good spots. This is another athlete who has had her chance to shine in prep venues outside of the club season.

Like VCN, Premier Nebraska has also put its depth on display at the setter spot. [player_tooltip player_id='230003' first='Nyah' last='Potthoff'] is using a stellar sophomore campaign with Gretna last fall as a launching point for a stout 2023 with Premier 16 Black. I'd count on Potthoff and her team making some noise at some of the qualifiers we'll see this month.

Meanwhile, Premier 16 Red has a fast-rising leader in [player_tooltip player_id='253924' first='Jordyn' last='Hill']. This setter dazzled us at last year's Prep Dig Showcase in La Vista, and now she's operating for a 16 Red squad that is putting together an impressive string of results. Hill has an incredible feel for tempo and location, and she pairs that with the kind of gritty floor defense that you'd expect to see from a defensive specialist. This complete skill set will keep rising to the forefront as the stakes get higher for 16 Red.

I'd be remiss not to pay a visit to River City Jrs to discuss [player_tooltip player_id='155054' first='Lauren' last='Fast'], a setter who has already garnered plenty of accolades in high school venues. The 16 Navy standout is back to her winning ways in this year's club season, and her precision continues to be a major factor in River City's success. A recent run of regional tournaments only served to expand Fast's highlight reel even more.

Consider this a prelude to an upcoming flurry of rankings updates.
