Nebraska’s newest 2024 rankings have just dropped, and this class gave us plenty to think about when making this refresh. It’s no surprise that a large group of athletes has charged up the leaderboard lately–so many, in fact, that we had to split these stock-riser features into two parts.
Here’s Part 1 from yesterday. Now, let’s finish it off.
Nebraska’s Class of 2024 has several players who are fitting in with the 18s this season, and Rasgorshek certainly fits that distinction. Her imposing length and net presence make it easy to forget that she’s playing up an age group. It’s a perfect choice for Nebraska ONE 18 Black, however, as Rasgorshek is making a big splash on a team with a ton of recognizable star power.
Distefano is fitting right in with Banzai VBC this spring. Her natural defensive skills can realistically fit in with any team, and that’s been reinforced through her strong start with 17 Select. The Omaha Concordia libero covers so much ground in the backcourt that it’s impossible to ignore her impact on any given match.
This stock boost for Prickett has been in the works for a while. Her hard-hitting style lifted Amherst to a state semifinal appearance last fall, and that same physicality is paying off with Nebraska Juniors 17 Red on the club side. Prickett is one of many hidden gems you’ll want to keep an eye on as 2023 rolls on.
VCNebraska 17 Black has quite a go-to attacker rising through the ranks. Hagedorn is one of our highest-rising player in the latest 2024 update, and her recent highlight film offers insight on why this is the case. Not only is Hagedorn terminating at will with her quick arm, but she’s also a six-rotation asset who is not afraid to take up chunks of the court in serve receive. That’s an all-around skill set worthy of this feature.
Highlights
Songster has proven to be quite a utility player in the Nebraska Juniors gym. She has an extensive background as a setter but has recently shoulder a big role as a pin hitter for 17 Black. That attacking role was clearly fruitful as Nebraska Juniors soared through the 17 Open field at the Presidents’ Day Classic behind Songster’s crafty plays from the left side.
Appleget is part of the indispensable Lincoln Southwest middle duo for VCNebraska 17 Elite. The team never skips a beat between Appleget and fellow Silver Hawk middle Emerson Lionberger Emerson Lionberger 6’0″ | MB Lincoln Southwest | 2024 State NE , as both are incredibly effective on gap plays or behind the setter. It was inevitable that we’d give Appleget a rankings boost after the strong start her team has seen this year.
Hausmann has an uncanny ability to deliver in tense situations. Perhaps that’s a product of how many high-stakes matches she’s played in for Norris and Premier Nebraska. We got a firsthand reminder of that clutch factor when Hausmann served out the match to give 17 Gold a third-place finish and a Nationals bid at January’s Northern Lights Qualifier. Clearly, more big moments are yet to come for Hausmann and her team.
It’s almost an embarrassment of riches at the libero spot for VCNebraska 17 Elite. Meyer, who is pledged to a Pitt that is firmly in the national spotlight, can thrive in the libero jersey or as a primary defensive specialist for VCN. In either instance, you can bet on Meyer showing her full array of spectacular saves and pinpoint passes.
Nebraska ONE 17 Lime’s roster is packed with small-town standouts, and Ryland is one who has really captured our attention. The North Platte native has anchored the end line for 17 Lime as the team makes several hops around the Midwest for regional competitions. Last month’s Presidents’ Day Classic was one of those venues that showed us the wide-ranging impact that Ryland can make.
Bode just keeps elevating her game. The South Dakota commit has reached a new level of dominance early in 2023, so there’s no way we could leave her off of this feature. After helping Papillion-La Vista South complete yet another title run last fall, Bode picked right up where she left off with Premier Nebraska. She’s an impenetrable frontcourt force who will look to replicate last season’ magical run at Nationals.
