Continue ReadingThe G3 16-1 team, training out of Corvallis, OR, has proven themselves very competitive this season. Building on their success from last season, where the team finished an admirable #5 in the 16U region, they have quite a few returning athletes and some top-notch additions. At the CEVA Bid tournament, the team was able to secure the 16 American bid. Heading into Regionals, G3 16-1 is the top-seeded 16U team in the Open division, sitting at #7. The head coach of this team is Evan Hilberg, a Corvallis native, and Travis Thiel is assisting him.
Buford has proven herself an integral aspect of this team’s success, whether utilized as a defensive specialist or a six-rotation outside hitter. A three-year returner to G3 16-1, she has been a part of this crew since 8th grade when she played up. Buford has emerged as an impactful leader for the group, guiding them to success with a fiercely competitive attitude. Although a bit undersized for an attacker, standing at 5’7”, she oozes athleticism, has hops, and displays great volleyball IQ with her placement. Her defense is quick, and she does a great job reading the hitter, defending attacks from all angles.
Euhus is a dynamic and athletic middle blocker. She does an exceptional job being terminal from anywhere across the net keeping defenders on their toes. She showcases great footwork, an explosive approach, and a quick arm swing. With some serious hops, she is a formidable blocker and moves well laterally to close at the pins. Also, a three-year returner for G3 16-1, starting with the team in 8th grade, she has become a cornerstone to this team’s success.

Ellie Grace
Ellie Grace
Grace has solidified herself as an asset to this team’s backrow play as their primary libero. She showcases quick and athletic movements across the backcourt. On serve receive, she helps her team stay in-system with consistent passes. On defense, she executes left-back defense with confidence and puts herself in successful situations to dig the attack. Her ability to step in on out of system plays and put up a hittable ball for attackers has allowed for more point scoring opportunities for the team. She has demonstrated a lot of improvement over this club season and will be an athlete to keep your eyes on in the coming years.
Jacobson is a well-rounded six-rotation outside hitter. An offensive weapon, she is utilized heavily. With a quick arm, an explosive approach, and a plethora of shots, she proves hard to stop from anywhere on the court. Achieving the highest serve receive pass rating on the team, she is indispensable across the backcourt as well. Jacobson has proven an indispensable asset in the team’s successes throughout this season.
Ryland Minnick
Ryland Minnick
Minnick has begun to establish herself as a top right side hitter from the 2026 class. A left-handed attacker, she shines on the right pin. With a high reach on the ball, she has showcased a lot of improvement on the attacking front, adding a multitude of angles and shots to her resume. Her blocking has proven critical to this team defense, being a formidable force at the net. She consistently shuts down oppoentns outside hitters. Only a freshman, Minnick has a lot of untapped potential and is an athlete to keep your eyes on in the coming seasons.
Schnell is the foundation of this team’s success executing a 5-1 system as their primary setter. She oozes athleticism and works tirelessly to get to the ball with her hands to put up a hittable set, even off a bad pass. Her IQ on the court has improved over the course of this season greatly. She does a good job knowing when to utilize a dump, when to set against the grain and does an exceptional job identifying opponents’ weaknesses on defense to create point scoring opportunities for attackers. The spark plug of the team, she brings high energy and leadership to the court.
