It gives all players who felt they were ranked low this year hope their rankings can climb upwards next year. All it takes is a little effort to improve your game.
Berkeley Konrady Berkeley Konrady 6'1" | OH Millbrook | 2025 State VA left side (Blue Ridge) 68 to 7 – Last year I did not know much about Berkeley. She played for Millwood, which won the Northwestern District. Her contributions earned her a spot on the Northwestern District second team as a sophomore. Video was watched and that looked impressive, like most videos do. A Maryland Juniors tournament in January was the first time I actually saw her play. A 6’0″ left side, playing six rotations, pounding the ball consistently to the floor against players a year older than her earned her a couple asterisks that day. Blue Ridge will be going to Junior Nationals in the National Division as a result of winning the Chesapeake Regional Qualifiers against some traditionally strong teams. Berkeley shined as the headliner of the tournament. Definitely a player to watch.

Brianna Holladay Brianna Holladay 6'2" | MB Riverside | 2025 State VA middle (Paramount) 29 to 18 – Not a big jump in the rankings, but when you are already rated fairly high, to climb 10 spots is pretty significant. At 6’2″ she can put up a penetrating block in the middle. Her approach jump soars over 10 feet giving her some offensive prowess. When she runs the middle she runs all variety of quicks to keep defenses off balance. She can be a difference maker in the front row.
Zoe Ryu Zoe Ryu 6'2" | OH Georgetown Day | 2025 State VA left side (Paramount) 60 to 29 – She hit outside for a Georgetown Day team that finished second in the ISL to perennial power Flint Hill. Zoe ranked second on the team in kills. She also played left side for a strong Paramount team, hitting out of system sets and right side sets as well. An added bonus is she plays six rotations, providing a strong defensive presence with precision passing. At 6’0″ she brings excellent height to the left side. Just an all around solid player to put on the court.
Michelle Kim Michelle Kim 5'8" | S Rock Ridge | 2025 State VA setter (VAVA) 70 to 39 – For Michelle setting is still a new endeavor for her. She played right side for Rock Ridge High but at 5’8″ her height might be too short to fill a big role. When I watched Rock Ridge play Ankita Kamath Ankita Kamath 5'6" | S Rock Ridge | 2024 State VA set a 5/1. Breaking out the hands for VAVA has been a good alternative for Michelle. Give her a little more experience and she could make an impact at the position if given an opportunity. She appears to have a good attitude about always trying to improve her skills on the court.

Baylee Doolan Baylee Doolan 5'8" | OH North Hagerstown | 2025 State VA left side/DS (Metro) 66 to 41 – At 5’8″ she does not fit the typical Metro mold of an outside hitter. The first few matches where I watched her play she came in as a defensive specialist. When Leni Stanton-Parker Leni Stanton-Parker 6'0" | OH Langley | 2025 State #116 Nation VA moved from left side to middle Baylee played the left side. She brings a good vertical with an approach jump just short of 10 feet (9’6″). Needless to say, when she comes in to play left side she plays six rotations. Baylee was one of the primary players for the North Hagerstown championship volleyball run last year.

Abigail Litonjua Abigail Litonjua 5'9" | S West Potomac | 2025 State VA setter (Paramount) 87 to 42 – Abigail shares the setting duties for Paramount with Claire Mo Claire Mo 5'10" | S Langley | 2026 State VA . She hits left handed, which gives her an advantage if she stays in the front row at right side, or runs a 5/1. Her repertoire included a nice jump back set which will give her hitters a lot of single blocks to attack against. Abigail uses her middles well with shoots, back ones and slides. You also have to like her defense in the back row. As she grows and gains experience I expect another big jump in the rankings.
