Here are seven DS/L’s from Iowa clubs who stood out:
Dakota Mitchell Dakota Mitchell 5'3" | DS/L Mid Prairie | 2025 State IA , Six Pack 16U – The Mid-Prairie sophomore controls the back row from the libero spot for her school and club teams. She shows quick reflexes and consistently settles pace, turning it into an accurate pass. She moves around the court with controlled speed.
Alexie Hogan Alexie Hogan 5'7" | DS/L Beckman Catholic | 2025 State IA , CIA 16U – Hogan gets to her spots regularly. Once there, she delivers precise passes from across the back row. She boasts excellent reflexes and lateral movement, allowing her to cover a lot of the court. She takes charge throughout points.
Ainsley Haedt Ainsley Haedt 5'4" | DS/L North Scott | 2026 State IA , Iowa Select 15U – Haedt stands out for her quickness and cat-like reflexes. She knows when a dig needs to be handled traditionally, overhand or otherwise. She dishes out usable passes off of an array of digs. She moves around the court with impressive speed.
Carley Jonker Carley Jonker DS/L Xavier | 2025 State IA , Adrenaline 16U – Jonker helped Cedar Rapids Xavier win the state championship in the Fall and played a key role in this Adrenaline squad qualifying for Nationals in the National Division. She runs the show at libero, moving smoothly across the back row and settling pace into precise passes.
Kennedy Whitford, Rockets 15U – The Solon freshman plays at a level beyond her years. She’s a steadying force in the back row at libero for the Rockets after starting as a ninth-grader on the Spartan varsity in the Fall. She’s a good athlete with solid footwork and quickness.
Edie Miller Edie Miller 5'7" | DS/L Iowa City Liberty | 2027 IA , Rockets 14U – Iowa City Liberty will enjoy adding Miller and her twin sister, setter Hadley Miller Hadley Miller 5'7" | S Iowa City Liberty | 2027 IA , to the high school program next season. Edie shows an impressive feel for playing libero at a young age. Her quick feet stand out along with her ability to deliver accurate passes.
Jovi Evans Jovi Evans 5'6" | DS/L Mid Prairie | 2026 State IA , Adrenaline 16U – Evans teams up with Jonker as a dynamic defensive duo in club and does the same with Mitchell during school ball. The Mid-Prairie freshman showed off her versatility as a ninth-grader, producing 370 assists, 346 digs and 202 kills. She’s a well-rounded player with advanced skills for her grade.
