The #4 seed CPA 16 Drew team from Spokane has excellent depth and is coming off a solid first-place finish at Evergreen Regionals. The group may not have a star performer who can take over a match, but the group collectively has grit and talent and has pulled out some improbable victories this season. Look for this scrappy squad to battle hard this weekend, and find the hot hand when the match is on the line.
Ohman had a breakthrough performance at the Evergreen Region Championships, delivering a point-scoring bonanza against RVK 16 Kari in the final. She was extremely confident taking big swings against taller blockers, working the edge of the block for kills, and delivering off-speed for kills. That confidence carried over to her play in serve receive, Ohman calmly opened up and changed her platform angle on tough serves, keeping CPA in the flow offensively.
Holley is a dynamic outside hitter from Ridgeline in Liberty Lake. She has an excellent vertical and powerful swing, she is at her best finding high hands and working the ball down the line. Holley has the athleticism to run down balls on defense, she is one of four pins for CPA that will get on the floor for a difficult dig. Holley has an excellent attack out of the pipe, she stays ready and is a good option for the CPA setters.
Berglund is one of three CPA middles that can get it done attacking and putting up an intimidating block. She has a hard to handle serve as well, and she plays solid defense behind it. As a blocker she makes the right reads and gets her hands over the net to create blocks and touches. Berglund has nice touch when she drops over a tip, she has showed the ability to crush a quick set in the seam with a high contact point.
Highlights
Sandberg has been on the floor either as an outside, right-side, or setter all season for CPA. She had a tremendous school season as the starting libero for Gonzaga Prep, and her reactions and hustle set the tone for CPA Drew’s overall team effort. Sandberg can flick up a dig with one hand, get down on the floor to save a tip, or take a smash down the line off her body and keep on playing. She has a positive and relentless attitude, and will make the big play as an attacker when the team needs it.
Reich has been out with an injury for part of the season, but began the season at the libero spot. Playing for Mead High School, a perennial state tournament power in 3A, and training with CPA, Reich has excellent fundamentals and a solid platform in serve receive. She plays a bit longer than her listed height, she can get to shots to the deep corners or the push over her head defensively. Reich has good location when setting the second ball from her platform, she steps in decisively and controls the back row from the libero position.
Elizabeth Hardy |Setter |2025 |Coeur d’Alene Hardy has emerged as the season has worn on, and she is showing good location and decision-making as part of the 6-2 CPA rotation. She will throw a set to the pin from the far right of the net, and has been finding her pipe attackers to work in a variety of attacks. Hardy remembers to play defense first and contributes to a CPA defense that takes pride in getting to every ball.
