The culminating event for the CEVA club season is the Regional tournament. Taking place at the Portland Expo Center across two days, hundreds of teams took the court to secure their final standing for the season. We were able to see some of the best athletes from Oregon and SW Washington compete and took note of the stellar performances we saw. We will be featuring those athletes who impressed us throughout the coming weeks.
Without further ado, here are the 2025 pin hitters who had standout performances.
Morgan shouldered a massive offensive load over Regionals for OJVA 16-2. Rarely seen off the court, her play was instrumental in the team’s #1 finish in 16U. As their powerhouse pin hitter, she is high-flying and terminal. Across the backrow, she is solid. She reads the attack well to position herself for a dig.
Pinheiro’s improvement this club season has been pretty tremendous, and her play at Regionals was a testament to that. With Madi Andrews out with a concussion, the team called on Pinheiro to step into the outside hitter position. She navigated this change well, took some big swings, and racked up kills.
Rasmussen has been a major factor in the OJVA 16-2 team’s success this season, and Regionals was no different. A leftie with a big vertical jump, she shines on the right side. She took some big swings in big moments over Regionals. When the team runs a 5-1, she often stays in to play right back defense and is utilized backrow to swing.
Highlights
Reyes was a major offensive and defensive contributor to the OJVA 16-3 team over Regionals. She oozes athleticism. Although undersized, with a big vertical jump, she is able to terminate consistently. She is quick and relentless on defense. She exudes positive and competitive energy, leading the team to success.
Thies is the #1 recruit for the 2025 class, and after watching her performance at Regionals, it is easy to see why. She is a complete six-rotation hitter. The team looks to her to put the ball away from anywhere on the court. She brings offensive power and defensive finesse to the court. Her attacking range has greatly improved this season; she is racking up kills all over the court.
Highlights
Young has been a force for the NPJ 16-2 team this season. Her play was instrumental in the team’s strong showing at Regionals. She has an aggressive and explosive approach. Across the backrow, her defense and serve receive are steady and consistent. She brings infectious positive energy to the court; you can see the passion she has for the game shine through.
