The culminating event for the CEVA club season is the Regional tournament. Taking place at the Portland Expo Center across two days, hundreds of teams took the court to secure their final standing for the season. We were able to see some of the best athletes from Oregon and SW Washington compete and took note of the stellar performances we saw. We will be featuring those athletes who impressed us throughout the coming weeks.
Without further ado, here are the 2025 middle blockers who had standout performances.
Lainey Day
Lainey Day
Swinging in the middle for Aspire NW 16-1, Day made her presence known at Regionals. Very athletic, she is dynamic on the court. She is quick in transiton and has an explosive approach with a quick arm to rack up kills. She was a blocking machine, shutting down lots of powerhouse hitters over two days of play.
Godard has shown a significant amount of improvement over this club season with OJVA 15-1. Playing opposite Hayley Schaaf Hayley Schaaf 6’3″ | MB Catlin Gabel | 2026 State OR , the pair make for relentless duo, providing little relief for their opponents. Godard’s attacking at Regionals proved tough to stop, hitting a variety of sets. Her 3-attack was booming, and because it was often run as an X-play with the outside, there was often no block presence, allowing her to pound away.
Highlights
Haury was a contributor in the middle for the NPJ 15-1 team. She is really athletic and quick. Although a little undersized for a middle, standing at 5’9”, with a solid vertical jump and a great connection with her setters, she is able to terminate consistently. Her speed laterally allows her to close at the pins efficiently, and her solid vertical jump helps her put up a big block.
Quinn Pedersen
Quinn Pedersen
Pedersen was a key component of the Excel 16-1’s success this season and Regionals was no different. She proved to be a definite offensive weapon, with a quick arm and good court vision, she was able to create lots of point scoring opportunities for herself. Standing at 6’1”, she uses her height and athleticism to put up a massive and commanding block.
Schaaf is, without a doubt, one of the top middles for the class of 2026, so it is no surprise she is a major contributor offensively and defensively for OJVA 15-1. When fed the ball, she finds a way to terminate. She can bury the ball deep corner, or hammer it at the 10-ft line. Watching her lateral movement from pin to pin and her big presence as a blocker was exciting. Athletic and 6’3” she has tons of potential and will be exciting to watch progress over the next few seasons.
