The culminating event for the CEVA club season is the Regional tournament. Taking place at the Portland Expo center across two days, hundreds of teams took the court to secure their final standing for the season. We were able to see some of the best athletes from Oregon and SW Washington compete and took note of the stellar performances we saw. We will be featuring those athletes who impressed us throughout the coming weeks.
Without further ado, here are the 2026 setters who had standout performances.
Ranked at #2 overall and #1 for setting for the class of 2026, Buerkle has made a lot of improvement over the season and has become a very impressive and talented all-around player. While setting for the OJVA 15-1 team during Regionals, Buerkle used a soft touch and a quick release to place the ball consistently with each set. She is a natural leader on the court, and she’s willing to play wherever she is needed, sometimes switching from setting to hitting from the right side throughout matches. Buerkle also showcased her good decision making as a setter during Regionals, running the middles often and moving her sets around.

Running a 6-2 alongside Irene Rocha Irene Rocha 5’8″ | S Blanchet Catholic | 2026 State OR , Orizotti brings consistency and a calm, confident disposition to the court. During Regionals, she did an excellent job of mixing her sets up between her attackers to keep defenders on their toes. Orizotti also used her solid court vision to make smart plays on two and create more scoring opportunities for her team.
Coming in as the #2 setter for the class of 2026 is Rocha, a passionate athlete with natural leadership abilities and a great court presence. Rocha showcased her speed and sheer athleticism at Regionals, which she used to get to every pass. Combining that quickness with nice hands and a soft touch on the ball, Rocha consistently placed the ball perfectly with each set during the tournament. Rocha is not just a strong setter, but she is also a skilled defensive player, always on her toes and able to pick up nearly anything that comes her way.
