Prep Dig has once again renewed our partnership with USA Volleyball to run the Pre-Tournament Showcase the day before the tourney starts. It will be held at the McCormick Place Convention Center where the tourney is being held. We are going to be previewing some of the players who have signed up to participate. The one aspect that sets our showcases apart from every other one in the country is how we offer coverage, before, during, and after it is completed. Without further ado, here are a few players who you should be watching at the showcase.
Kristi Bishop Kristi Bishop 5'9" | DS/L Vandegrift | 2025 TX [2025] 5-8 Libero (HS: Vandergrift/Club: Roots/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kristi is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays volleyball at Vandergrift High School and also plays club for the Roots program out of the Austin area. It is very rare that we open up an article about a player’s serve, but Kristi can bring some serious heat with her jump float serve. It is absolutely stifling to opposing receivers. What I truly love about Miss Bishop’s play on the court is how balanced her footwork is. She uses a very wide stance as the ball is on the opposing side of the court and what makes it truly special is how her weight is very evenly distributed on both legs. She keeps her weight on the inside part of her feet so that she can push off faster depending on which side the ball is traveling to. This kind of weight distribution is super high level and I can’t wait to see it in action during the showcase. Her heels hardly ever touch the floor while she is moving on the court and this helps to keep her extra bouncy and super fast. Give this young lady a look and you won’t be disappointed.
Lauren Garcia Lauren Garcia 5'11" | S Reagan | 2027 State TX [2027] 5-10 Setter (HS: Reagan/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Lo is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. Once they are she will have no trouble making the list. She plays volleyball at Reagan High School and club for Alamo. We are very high on this young lady due to her versatility and amazing skill set. Miss Garcia is a flat out stud who has been playing up an age group all year long and killing it. There is not an aspect of the game that she cannot excel at in my opinion. Lauren doubles as a setter and a hitter for her awesome squad. I love how she keeps her hands at the same contact point for every set location and tempo. She has been coached very well and it shows in her form/technique. As a hitter, she can light up the opposing team with some fire. She unleashes that fire with a picturesque approach and beautiful arm swing from both pins on the regular. Miss Garcia has the potential to be super high on the rankings list when we unveil it. In the meantime, we will love to watcher compete at the showcase against some top competition from across the nation.
Stella Wishon Stella Wishon 6'2" | OH Community Christian | 2027 OK [2027] 6-2 Outside (HS: Community Christian/Club: Oklahoma Charge/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Stella is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 class according to our Prep Dig Oklahoma State Rankings, but that is only because they have not been released yet. She will have no problem making the list once it is unveiled. She plays volleyball at Community Christian School and club for Oklahoma Charge. Every coach knows that you cannot teach height and Miss Wishon has tons of it. Most taller young players do not have the coordination to perform at a high level, but Stella is not one of those. She is extremely athletic and pretty fast for her size. Routinely she averages double-digit kills in every match she plays in. I love how she contacts the ball at her peak reach as it will make it very difficult for anyone to slow her attack down. The best part of her game is that she is playing six rotations and will only get better with more experience. By playing back row, she gives her team some added firepower offensively and they use it often. She has a lot of power in her young swing and already knows how to move the ball around the court to score in a variety of ways. I am super excited to see her in action against the top players at the showcase. Write her name down now because she will be very well known soon.
