Summerfest Recap; Podium Finish for OVR Athletes/Teams

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>17 Premier</em></strong><br>Tri-State 17 White claimed the top spot in this division with a perfect 5-0 record without dropping a set. They were dominant all weekend with no team earning more than 17 points in a given set. One of the best 2nd teams for any Ohio club, this squad has a great collection of athletes that complete their effort on both sides of the ball. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='114583' first='Alli' last='Kirch']</strong> (Lake Erie College) was one of the top point scorers in the GGCL as the 6'1 pin and tag the ball with big power and range. <strong>Maddie Lambers</strong> (Campbell) is a 6'3 middle touching over 10' and provides a big presence at the net with her skills and athleticism. Setter <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='114576' first='Taylor' last='Grubbs']</strong>, another Seton product, sets both of these teammates well give her familiarity with them from the high school season. She has good footwork and can deliver location and tempo consistently. Pin hitter <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='114582' first='Ruby' last='Klusman']</strong> is one of the most physical athletes on this team as she can create big elevation and a high contact point. She and Kirch provide a dynamic 1-2 punch on the left side and out of the back row.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mintonette m.72 earned the silver medal, losing 2-0 to TSE in the finals. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='169133' first='Noel' last='Perkins']</strong> is a 5'7 setter with great tools. She has good footwork and delivers consistently with high hand position that is deceptive. She pursues the ball well and can locate on the move and against the flow. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='151968' first='Teagan' last='Ng'] </strong>(*pictured; West Liberty commit) has a big arm and can generate a lot of pace at the pins. She also helps stabilize their offense with her passing and defensive skills out of middle-back. In the middle, <strong>Auriela Ledbetter</strong> is one to keep an eye on given her athleticism and physicality when on time and tempo offensively. She gets off the floor well and can get on top of the ball. <strong>Skylar Kelso</strong> is 6'2 and complements Ledbetter well in the middle as she uses her length and reach well. The libero is <strong>Rebekah Williams</strong>, a 2025 prospect. She has some of the best reaction and range that starts with good patience, balance and vision as the play develops.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>15 Open</em></strong><br>NKVYC 15-1 Tsunami had a solid event as they earned the silver medal with a finals match loss to champion Legacy. Along the way, NKYVC earned solid wins over AVC, Metro, FarOut, and national title favorite Mintonette. Among Ohio prospects for NKYVC [player_tooltip player_id='227615' first='Callie' last='Combs'] is one of the most complete athletes in the greater Cincy area as she is fundamentally sound in all phases of the game. Undersized as a pin hitter, she can score as she has great arm work in her ability to move the ball around the floor and challenge edges of bigger blocks in front of her. [player_tooltip player_id='204230' first='Emma' last='Frietch'] will likely be ranked one of the best liberos in all of Ohio in our upcoming rankings for this class. She covers the floor so well and plays with great vision and poise. [player_tooltip player_id='227798' first='Maddie' last='Steele'] continues to prove her value as a middle as she understands her opportunities well to score with through quick tempo options around the setter. This team will have a good opportunity for success at the upcoming GJNC in the 15 Open division. Their win over Mintonette (Summerfest bronze medalist) is a key indicator of the type of play and success they can create, which bodes well for them for the upcoming national tournament.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
