Emma Frietch will be moving up in the national rankings at the end of October, the libero covers quite the range, she keeps her side in system, and brings calm to the chaos on the second ball. She has played her high school ball for St. Ursula out of Cincy and her club ball at NKYVC, she’s been trained at a high level and has competed against the best in the country. Her movement and platform makes the libero position look effortless. She will take her talent to Rocky Top where this program has been making waves all season. This is a group that no one wants to see come tournament time after they took Texas to the wire. A player like Frietch will add depth to their backcourt and she is one who just lights a spark wherever she plays.

There may not be a libero in Ohio that means more to her team’s effort and success than Frietch (*pictured). She has been stellar this cycle as she helped guide her SUA team to a DII Ohio state title, including 24 digs in the championship match and to add to her GGCL best 458 total digs for 2024. Next, she will bring her skills to the 17 Open division of the USAV GJNC set to start in a few days. The Tennessee commit has some of the best first-touch game in the state and it will be key for NKYVC’s run to close out the club season.

Frietch’s mental toughness stood out in this tournament. Frietch put her mistakes behind quickly and bettered the next ball. She continues to be as smooth as they come on defense. Frietch once again provided outstanding net coverage and hit out of system passes with a purpose. Frietch continues to encourage her 17-1 Tsunami teammates well.

The GGCL Player of the Year was fantastic in her junior season as she helped guide SUA (Cincinnati) to a DII state title. The Tennessee commit led the league with 458 total digs, one of two athletes to surpass the 400 mark. She returns to NKYVC with a squad that should be a big factor on the national scene in the 17U age division. Frietch and her team open their club tournament schedule in Indy on January 12.

Not enough can be said of the consistency Frietch brings each night with the two and three-star passes. Even if it means stretching her arms and legs or diving hard, Frietch does whatever she can to make crisp passes. She kept countless plays alive using her raw athleticism in the game. Frietch said that has been a mentality of hers. She said players do not know if they can get to balls if they do not try.

Frietch is the third SUA prospect to be leading a major statistical category in the GGCL. Approaching 200 total digs for this season, she is averaging over 14 digs per match. One of the premier liberos in all of Ohio regardless of class, Frietch has been a key anchor for SUA and her NKYVC club team with he first-touch skills in serve receive and defensively. She is quick, plays with great control, and can cover a lot of court. She is committed to SEC power Tennessee.
