The Emerald City Classic tournament is back for its 35th year! The University of Washington hosts some of the top volleyball teams from Oregon, Washington, and northern Idaho, and PrepDig was lucky enough to see them in action.
Below are a handful of setters that caught our attention over the course of the second day.
Buerkle is the top setter from the class of 2026 for Oregon so it is no surprise she stood out when watching OJVA 15-1 play. Competing in the State track and field championships the day prior, she came to ECC Sunday ready to play. She was disciplined at getting her feet set and her hands on the ball. She has added the jump set to her tool box and does a good job staying neutral to hide her set location. Dynamic, she also stays in to attack in the front row given her aggressive swing.

Carle flexed her versatility at ECC, juggling setting and defensive roles depending on the team’s needs. She was seen setting one match, playing right back defense while Kamden Mitchell Kamden Mitchell 5'10" | S Crescent Valley | 2025 State #41 Nation OR set another, and sporting the libero jersey the next. She was super speedy, getting her hands on every ball she could run down. Her location accuracy was impressive, putting up ball after ball for the attackers. Her impressive defensive play caught the attention of the ECC board and she was honored with the Candis Carter award.
Highlights
Crawford exudes athleticism, she immediately stood out on Webfoot 16-1 given her physicality. Being their primary setter, she worked tirelessly for the team, executing a 5-1. Her touch on the ball is soft, quick, and clean. She established her middles early on and kept feeding them throughout the match. She was also an excellent defender, making top notch defensive plays to keep the team in rallies.

Eichert is one of the top 2024 setters from Washington, and after getting the opportunity to see her set for WVBA 16-1, it was clear why. Running a 5-1, her setting abilities were critical in the team’s ability to compete in 18 Open. She oozed athleticism and had a soft touch on the ball. With a strong IQ, she made excellent setting decisions, feeding her terminal pins all over the court.
Highlights
Fareti-Tuato’o stepped up big time for NPJ 15-1 at ECC. With their primary setter Tristyn Ervin moving to Las Vegas, Fareti-Tuato’o filled in that hole, executing a 6-2. She stayed in to attack on the right side. And for good reason, high-flying, with prior attacking experience, she took some big swings.
Highlights
McGhee took on a major load at ECC as their only rostered setter for the weekend. With standout Mia Hunt Mia Hunt 5'9" | S Central Catholic | 2025 State OR currently out with injury, all eyes were on McGhee. She ran a 5-1 across all days of play, and was instrumental in the teams success in 16 Open, making it to the finals. She did a good job, when the pass was way off the net, getting her feet set and squaring up to distribute the ball to the pins. She also kept a neutral position to hide her set location well.
Migliuri was one of the top 2026 setters I saw in action. She immediately stood out given her sheer athleticism. She had a soft touch on the ball and a quick release. She set against the grain to create one on one opportunities for CPA 15-1’s dynamic pin hitters. Staying in to attack on the right side, she flies and has a quick arm swing. Already a high level player with lots of potential, Milgliuri will be an exciting one to watch progress over the next few years.
Quitiquit is dynamic, athletic, and so fun to watch in action. As an 8th grader on PSVBA 15-1 last year, she blew me away. This season, playing for SVA, she was that much more refined and impressive. Her competitiveness showed through, doing whatever was needed to get the ball to her hitters. Although undersized as an attacker, she absolutely flies and can hammer away to rack up kills. Only a 2026, Quitiquit is an athlete to keep your eyes on in the coming seasons.
Wheeler may be small, but she is mighty! Running a 6-2, she was a workhorse for the CRU 16-1 team, hustling all over the court to get her hands on the ball. She played exceptional right back defense, getting low, ready to react to the attack. She also had a tough, flat, jump float serve that garnered lots of service aces and disruptions.
