Sure, the Nebraska Stock Up Showcase featured several familiar names that added to our existing scouting reports. But many other athletes offered our first—or, at least, most extensive—look at their skills and attributes. Venues like these are a perfect chance to make new discoveries, and that certainly happened on Sunday.
So, here are a few of the new discoveries and big first impressions from the Nebraska Stock Up Showcase.
Blodgett made the most of her Nebraska Stock Up Showcase appearance and will be a surefire addition to our 2025 watch list. The Papio athlete demonstrated strong all-around skills in positional drills and during team-based competition. Our list of River City Jrs standouts has grown considerably from this event, and Blodgett certainly belongs in this category.
Thiessen is keeping the Papio area in the discussion here, but this outside hitter represents Papio South. She made a big first impression last Sunday as a right-side hitter who could easily adapt to the other pin, too. Better yet, Thiessen offers some ball control prowess that can be an asset no matter which position she plays in the future.
Brown was one of a handful of cross-state visitors at the Nebraska Stock Up Showcase. The Missouri native carried the torch well for Staley High School and Optimum Volleyball Club. We love to see the determination of out-of-state athletes making the trek to these events, and Brown was sure to put her gritty defense on full display in the Cornhusker State.
Svoboda made quite a first impression at our showcase and helped demonstrate Nebraska’s growing talent pool in the Class of 2026. Aquinas Catholic High School can make good use of Svoboda’s steady presence as a setter and a lights-out floor defender in the right-back area. The upcoming high school season will offer several more chances to find under-the-radar talent, but Svoboda has already earned a headstart.
Another Staley visitor! Van Meter joined Brown on the Missouri Express and produced several standout moments alongside her high school teammate. Her pin-to-pin distribution in team reps was phenomenal, and Van Meter can become a vocal leader no matter what squad is around her. That usually translates to showcase success.
Highlights
The Class of 2027 was collectively making a first impression no matter where the athlete was coming from. That’s part of the fun of Sunday’s event. Jackson hails from Logan View, which is no stranger to frontcourt standouts. This freshman-to-be competed hard and gave some incredible effort in a wide range of drills. Jackson is now a name to watch as River City Jrs builds another foundation for future success.
2027s brought the heat from the outside hitter spot. Moone is another rising freshman who repped Papillion-La Vista South at our showcase. The Banzai athlete has a fluid approach in the front row, but we also can’t forget about her confidence when playing middle-back floor defense. All of those traits came to light during Sunday’s showcase.
