Some of the best of the best were on tap in Chicago for the USAV Nationals. With some of the best, what better way to showcase some of the top uncommitted players in the country?
Prep Dig and USA Volleyball partnered for a top tier showcase experience not once, but TWICE! Over the course of the USAV National run, Prep Dig saw over 200 athletes show up and show out all they got on the courts.
Here were some of the standouts that I saw in Session II!
Jordyn Palazzo Jordyn Palazzo 5'11" | OH Watkins Mill | 2025 State VA – 5’11 OH – MVSA
There were a lot of big time, hard hitting attackers in the gym. This player hits a really heavy ball, seems to have a great vision for the block to hit a variety of shots. Palazzo’s scoring can be off the charts when in game time.
Avery Gemperle – 5’11 OPP – Austin Juniors
There is something really deceptive to a lefty attacker because there aren’t as many of them in the game. Gemperle was one a few lefties here and arguably one of the top dogs. She has a nice leap and can terminate on both the right and left pins at a high efficiency.
Lauren Gonzales – 5’11 OH – Rage
No matter the set, good or bad, Gonzales was one of the best at making the most of her opportunity. She plays a ways above the net with a nice jump and high contact point. She takes her time to see the ball before unleashing.
Kelsey Heffner – 6’3 MB – ARVC
This player brings a lot of size to the court just by stepping on it, see her in flight and its a whole new ball game. Heffner plays with a lot of energy and passion. It reflects in her play as well!
Eileen Chavez Eileen Chavez 5'10" | S John Hersey | 2024 IL – 5’10 S – MOD
Chavez runs a very athletic game. She’s the type of setter to run a very tight tempo with great, consistent location. She’s constantly jump setting to speed up her game and it pays off greatly.
Victoria Plumb Victoria Plumb 5'5" | DS/L Inglemoor | 2024 State WA – 5’4 L – Seattle Juniors
This ‘bro seems to be a step ahead of the comp every ball she takes. With a great read for the game, nothing came to her surprise and nothing was too hot to handle! Plumb betters the court.
Kate Foley – 6’0 OPP – Seal Beach
Foley has a really tight handle for the game on the right side. She jumps well, has a heavy arm and loaded with an array of shots to score. As smooth as an attacker she was, Foley had a beautiful read for the opposing attacker with her blocking.
Nina Mitchell Nina Mitchell 6'2" | MB Wichita Northwest | 2024 State KS – 6’2 MB – Shockwave
Mitchel brings a lot of great size to the net and is pretty athletic as well. With a lot of speed and agility, Mitchell is constantly available in transition in the middle and plays very well above the net.
Maggie Hamed – 5’10 OH – Whirlwind
With a nice high snap of the wrist, this outside can hit a really nice cut shot that proved too much to handle. Whether she cuts it sharp angle or cross body, she always brings it with some heat. Hamed proved too much to work with when 6v6 began.
Nicole Tuszynski – 5’2 L – Norcal
Never say die on any ball you throw her way. Tuszynski is one of those scrappy and speedy ‘bros, she covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time if she’s not already there and commands the court.
Savannah Baron – 5’5 L – Rage Westside
This bro steps onto the court and she takes control! Very talkative and a lot of fire when she plays, she reads the opponents offense very well and can take a good beating. Her setting on two was also commendable, straight up butter.
Mariyana Cardwell Mariyana Cardwell 6'1" | RS Monsignor Edward Pace | 2025 State FL – 6’1 OPP – BVA
One of those killer lefties at the second session, Cardwell was quite formidable on the right. Really explosive off of the the ground, she follows it up by bringing some serious heat off of her arm swing.
Zaniah Hoskins – 5’11 OH – Austin Juniors
You wouldn’t be able to tell that this was one of Hoskin’s first times on the court since her tragic knee injury almost a year ago. Just like she was before, Hoskins still flies out of the gym. Her arm hasn’t missed a beat either and I am sure this isn’t the most we’ll see from her.
Hana Suzuki Hana Suzuki 5'7" | S East Hamilton | 2025 TN – 5’7 S – A5 Chattanooga
A real stout blocker on the right pin, her eye sequencing to line up with the opposing outside is great! She has a really nice arm swing and can chop the ball just about anywhere to score.
Charlette Albers Charlette Albers 5'8" | S Stoughton | 2025 State WI – 5’8 S – Madtown Juniors
One of the most athletic setters in the bunch, while a little bit on the shorter side, Albers brings a lot finesse and agility to her play. Even without her hands, her platform setting comes with a lot of pace and great location as well!
