In the end, we crowned our 1st and 2nd place teams with some nice bling. There were some really great battles and a whole lot of smiles. Here’s a look at some of the big time players.
I really like how Corrente was fearless blocking at the net. She did not care that attackers coming at her were bigger or had some really massive armswings. You couldn’t help but cheer for her. And then she would go back to the service line and serve a wicked low flat ball to put teams on their heels.
Murkowski was showing off her leadership skills with the Wildcats. She was solid in serve receive and as an attacker. This past club season she played mainly as a libero/defensive specialist over the club season but she was terminating like a seasoned attacker.
You could definitely tell Neilitz was having a blast playing the front row. She has a really aggressive style of play up at the net. Neilitz also puts up a big block and moves the ball from pin to pin.
Highlights
Nelson was taking really athletic swings at the net all tournament long. She is smooth in transition and solid on serve receive. Nelson stays cool and calm while knowing just how to terminate.
Stewart makes great contact with the ball and hammers the ball down the line. She doesn’t hesitate to take big swings when there is a single blocker in front of her. Stewart has a high contact point and puts up a huge daunting block for opposing attackers.
Highlights
Hernandez is super athletic and aggressive at the net. She took some fun swings at the ball coming from the back row as if she would set. Instead she would finish the approach quickly and fire away.
Schueller was hitting a number of different shots including slicing the ball from the outside. She puts up a big block and was solid in serve receive. Schueller is warming up for a big high school season this fall.
Miller doesn’t hesitate to get up quickly and terminate an overpass. She’s athletic and aggressive. Miller was a big piece of I AM’s success on Tuesday.
Highlights
Proefrock was making a number of big plays both offensively and defensively. When she jumps she may actually take flight. At one point she appeared to come out of nowhere to totally demolish a ball.
