California High School Leaders – Outstanding Outsides Vol 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Who is proving on the court that they are the best of the best in their position?&nbsp; Some say that numbers do not lie and we have the numbers that are being reported by coaches across the state.&nbsp; California is one of the best states in the nation when it comes to this wonderful sport and we are here to highlight all of our amazing players.&nbsp; Let's meet a few of the players who are killing it on the court!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='160964' first='Haley' last='Clark'] [2024] 5-11 Right Side (HS: La Canada/Club: SG Elite/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Haley is currently ranked as the 15^th best overall prospect and 3^rd best opposite in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings.&nbsp; She plays for La Canada High School and plays club for the SG Elite program. &nbsp;Miss Clark is currently tallying 130 kills on the year in only 28 sets played.&nbsp; The two-sport star also shines on the softball diamond for La Canada at first base.&nbsp; This young lady has been on a rampage this season racking up double digit kills on the regular.&nbsp; The talented lefty murders the ball with astounding power that not many blockers can handle.&nbsp; Her arm swing is beautiful to watch as it cuts through the air like a knife through butter.&nbsp; Swinging with power is not the only thing she is capable of.&nbsp; I love how she tools the block and finds holes in the defense with off-speed shots.&nbsp; It is also very beautiful to watch her take a long and deep approach out of the back row to throttle the ball out of a play set.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Leila Ballard [2025] 5-10 Outside (HS: Saugus/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Leila is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings.&nbsp; She stars on the pins for Saugus High School.&nbsp; This year she has already tallied 173 kills on a very impressive .275 hitting percentage in only 35 sets played. This is no fluke as she was one of their kill leaders all of last season.&nbsp; She takes a very picturesque approach out of serve receive on the left side and uses a very high reach to destroy the ball.&nbsp; What I also love about her play is how she is fully capable of attacking and scoring out of the back row.&nbsp; Routinely Saugus setters run her out of middle back during defensive transition and she comes through with a point scored.&nbsp; She truly understands how to use the corners to rack up kills.&nbsp; Miss Ballard uses some great footwork during defensive transition to make sure that she is back far enough to create momentum with her attack approach.&nbsp; This helps her get has high as she can with her vertical in order to attack with power.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Emma Carson [2024] 5-9 Outside (HS: Rio Hondo Prep/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Emma is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings.&nbsp; She stars in multiple sports for Rio Hondo Prep High School.&nbsp; Miss Carson is one of those amazing players who gets her skill from playing basketball, softball and volleyball on the varsity level.&nbsp; When you are able to use skill sets from multiple sports it allows you to be super athletic and be able to do different things on the volleyball court.&nbsp; She currently sits at 141 kills in only 24 sets played.&nbsp; Hitting at a .330 hitting percentage is astounding considering how many attempts pin attackers get in each match.&nbsp; With only 40 errors on the young season, we will be watching very closely to see if she can continue the offensive barrage on her opponents.&nbsp; It looks like she will because she is currently on pace to dwarf her stats from last season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes.&nbsp; If you have anyone you think we should watch out for, please shoot me an email with some info at <a href="mailto:Michael@prepdig.com">Michael@prepdig.com</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Also don't forget to help these kids get more exposure by sharing our stories with your friends.&nbsp; Help us help them by simply retweeting on Twitter or sharing on Facebook.&nbsp; Thanks for following us, Prep Dig Cali Family!&nbsp; Don't be afraid to interact with us.&nbsp; We love the likes, shares, and quotes/comments.&nbsp; Keep them coming!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
