The freshman class is always an intriguing one to follow as players who are capable of making a big impact on their teams in their first year of high school volleyball tend to turn into assets for years to come in their programs.
Some names in the class of 2027 are already standing out and here are some of them:
Allie Hudgins
Allie Hudgins
Austin’s Westlake have a deep and strong roster and for a freshman to earn a spot in the team’s starting lineup and have a prominent role with the Chaparrals, it’s because she has something special in her game. With Hudgins, it’s her 6’3″ frame and impressive firepower which made of her the team’s second-best scorer up to this point of the season. The freshman outside hitter has tallied 258 kills so far, but is also standing out in other areas of the game, leading the team in blocks (31) and ranking second in aces (34) and third in digs (171) and passes (287).
Kendra Stanford

A standout from the El Paso area, Stanford is having a phenomenal start to her freshman season with El Paso. She plays primarily as a middle, but does a little bit of everything for the Lady Bulldogs and is a key cog in their playing system. Stanford is an excellent all-around player and her team explores her versatility to the most, having her passing, hitting from all three positions at the net and the back and also blocking in the middle. Her production has been amazing so far, as she leads the team in kills (235) and ranks second in aces (32), blocks (77) and passes (148) and third in digs (144).
Wright has immediately become a key piece in her Montgomery team adding a lot to the team on both sides of the ball. An outside hitter with excellent ball control skills and tremendous explosiveness, she’s been in excellent form since the start of the season. She’s the Lady Bears’ most-used offensive player, leading the team’s scoring efforts with 247 kills, and is also very important in other areas of the game, ranking second in aces (37), digs (239) and passes (233) and third in blocks (22).
Highlights
Another player we got to see first-hand a couple of months ago during our Prep Dig Freshman Showcase, Ebert has been as solid as it gets for Hockaday on the backcourt in her first months of high school volleyball. Very long and technical, she’s making her presence felt on the defensive side of the game with the Daisies and will enter district play in great form. Ebert currently leads the team in passes (347) and ranks second in digs (259) and aces (24).
