Delaney is on a mission right now and mowing through the competition during her junior season.  She leads the entire state in total kills with 312 and that includes all grad classes.  What is even more impressive is that she only has 636 attempts with 76 errors and this results in a very efficient .371 hitting percentage.  Miss Wright concluded her club season on a very high note and is riding a big wave of momentum right now.  She has helped her squad to a 16-6 overall record on this young season and we cannot wait to continue to cover her offensive explosion.  If you have not seen her play yet, I strongly consider you grabbing some popcorn and enjoying the show like we are.

Here is a little sneak peak from an article that was written about her a few months ago, “Sometimes when you watch a match, certain players just make you shake your head in amazement.  That is exactly what happens when I watch Miss Wright ball out.  When the ball is set perfectly, she can be unstoppable at times.  When the ball is set out of system, most think she won’t be able to swing with power, however most also don’t notice what she does with her footwork.  By reading the play and seeing where the second ball is going to be set from, Delaney does such a great job of getting to a much deeper touch point to allow herself room to operate her approach.  This allows her tons of space to adjust to in order to keep the ball in an optimum position to still crank on.  And boy does she explode onto the ball with amazing force.  She is just one of those outside hitters who can change the game for a squad.”  These words ring true each time I watch her on the volleyball court.  Delaney is the real deal that can play all six rotations and be a true scoring threat at any time in a match.  Her coaches and teammates can rely on her to be a terminating left side scorer for them when the going gets a little tough.  What I love about her is how competitive she is in the game.  Although she might not be a six-footer, this young lady can jump out of the gym and bring some serious heat that is very difficult to stop.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a spot on our State Rankings.

Delaney’s swing is indeed a formidable challenge to defend. She utilizes her entire body in each hit, and when she receives an optimal set, it is evident that she aims for a powerful line shot that is exceedingly difficult to counter. Observers can witness her ponytail ripple with each contact with the ball, signaling the intensity of her strike. Her serve is equally as lethal as her offensive attacks. I have observed her achieve multiple aces consecutively, contributing to a remarkable 5-point run. Furthermore, Delaney excels at tracking the set for potential blocks and remains vigilant concerning overpasses. She consistently maintains a heightened awareness, ready to intervene even when the ball is not in her immediate vicinity.

Wright was part of the TAV Houston 16 Adidas – Ray team that got a fifth-place finish with four wins and one loss. One of the most exciting outside hitters to emerge in Texas in last year’s high school season, she continues to improve at a fast pace. Wright added more punch to her swings but continues to stand out technically, finding great locations to her tips and scoring off of difficult swings. Wright is an important player for TAV in every phase of the game and dominates the backcourt with excellent positioning and outstanding ball control.

Delaney is currently ranked as the 32^nd best overall prospect in the 2027 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings.  She plays for Montgomery High School and plays club for the TAV Houston program.  I have gotten the privilege of seeing Miss Wright in action both in the club scene and during our showcase that she attended this summer and boy was I impressed.  I was very interested to watch her in action this high school season because I knew that she would continue her breakout performance from her freshman season where she obliterated everyone in her way.  This season she has been more aggressive and is scoring at a much higher clip with 3.9 kills per set.  Currently she sits at 435 kills in total and the season is nowhere near done as they are in the end of the second leg of district play.  Everything about her play at the net is super explosive.  Her footwork seems to drive hard into the ground in order to propel her toward the path of the ball when approaching from her touch point.  Once she is in the air, it will very hard for the average spectator to see her arm during her down swing because it is that lightning fast while in motion.  The ball absolutely pops out of her hand after contact and barrels toward the ground on the opposing side.  Defenders better be in their position well before she contacts the ball in order to have a chance to dig it, because it has some serious pace.
