High School Report – Teams to Watch Vol 3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Texas High School season is well underway and there have been some teams that are separating themselves from the rest of the pack this season.&nbsp; This series will be highlighting a few of them as everyone marches through their district schedule.&nbsp; Let's take a closer look at who is standing out for these teams on the rise.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Cornerstone Christian Warriors</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Perennial powerhouse Cornerstone Christian is on another tear this season as they are currently 19-1 and have only lost to Mira Costa out of California who has some studs of their own.&nbsp; They don't belong to any private school division and play an independent schedule that is one of the toughest in the nation year in and year out.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='182110' first='Megan' last='Fitch'] and [player_tooltip player_id='124114' first='Grace' last='Carroll'] steal the show on offense.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='182110' first='Megan' last='Fitch'] is one of the premier pins in her grad class across the entire state.&nbsp; She is virtually unstoppable from any location on the court and can light up a stat book in a hurry.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='124114' first='Grace' last='Carroll'] is the best opposite in the 2024 grad class.&nbsp; The Baylor commit is an amazing two-way player who can affect the game in a variety of ways.&nbsp; Oh we aren't done yet!!! This roster is littered with talent.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='184653' first='Amaya' last='Tolentino'] is a stud with immense power on the pins.&nbsp; Junior [player_tooltip player_id='180467' first='Aniya' last='Hall'] is super athletic and jumps very well off of the ground.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='161817' first='Macey' last='Hughes'] is an electric attacker on the right side.&nbsp; Dishing the rock are two awesome setters, senior Natalia Jackson and junior [player_tooltip player_id='212733' first='Kaia' last='Thiele'].&nbsp; Both are healthy this year and that is not a good sign for opposing teams.&nbsp; They are moving the ball around very well and are both veterans of the sport.&nbsp; Their leadership will be key for this team to continue their winning ways.&nbsp; Senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='194169' first='Maria' last='Avendano'] has been stellar in the back row for the Warriors.&nbsp; She leads the team in digs and is a beast out of serve receive.&nbsp; Senior defensive specialist Giselle Ojeda is also doing an amazing job at keeping this squad in system with her passes.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Prestonwood Christian Lions</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Out of TAPPS District 1 comes the Lions who are also perennial powerhouses in volleyball.&nbsp; This team is a who's who of top north Texas volleyball talent.&nbsp; They are explosive and deep across their roster.&nbsp; With Michigan commit [player_tooltip player_id='124130' first='Camille' last='Edwards'] dishing the rock, you are always in good hands.&nbsp; She has been one of the top setters in the state since she put on a pair of kneepads.&nbsp; On top of that you have super smooth [player_tooltip player_id='180178' first='Taylor' last='Cook'] on the other side of the 6-2 offense.&nbsp; Wow!&nbsp; On the pins you have a three-headed monster in [player_tooltip player_id='142201' first='Jadyn' last='Livings'] (USC), [player_tooltip player_id='181296' first='Macaria' last='Spears'] (Ranked #1 Nationally), and [player_tooltip player_id='124104' first='Mikala' last='Young'] (TCU).&nbsp; In the back row you have [player_tooltip player_id='180174' first='Gillian' last='Pitts'] and [player_tooltip player_id='303612' first='Sloan' last='Cleveland'] keeping the ball off of the floor.&nbsp; They are two of the best in the business and are going to be a coach's worst nightmare all season.&nbsp; Both have the experience, footwork, and vision to keep the ball in system for their setters.&nbsp; They should be a lock to the TAPPS state title this season.&nbsp; We are going to love watching this team take care of business this year.&nbsp; Sty tune for more from this super talented team.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Boyd Broncos</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>McKinney Boyd is putting everyone on notice that they are a team to be reckoned with.&nbsp; They are shooting up the rankings and have an overall record of 17-1 right now.&nbsp; District 5-6A is one of the toughest in the state and after all is said and done, they will be battle tested for the playoffs for sure.&nbsp; In my expert opinion, the one major factor of why they are so talented is the play of senior setter/right side [player_tooltip player_id='142203' first='Carson' last='Eickenloff'] (Ole Miss).&nbsp; She impacts a match in so many ways and her impact can be seen all over the stat sheet.&nbsp; She is second on the team in kills standing at only five foot seven inches tall.&nbsp; She leads the team in assists.&nbsp; Carson is also second on the team in digs and is tied for the most aces from the service line.&nbsp; She probably sets up the net and officiates the match also from the ref stand….this kid does it all.&nbsp; Although she does have some help offensively by junior outside hitter Ale Romo who can rise up well and bring the heat herself.&nbsp; Her off-speed game is stellar also as she finds many ways to score for her squad.&nbsp; Junior [player_tooltip player_id='525255' first='Sara' last='Quigley'] and superstar freshman [player_tooltip player_id='535468' first='Olivia' last='Permenter'] give the team an added boost in firepower on the offensive end.&nbsp; Senior libero Kali Vanderhoof has been astounding in the back row for the Broncos.&nbsp; She leads the team in kills and has been stellar in serve receive also.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes.&nbsp;
