Continue ReadingMinnesota gathered some of its top Class A and AA teams to battle at the MN Showcase last weekend. With 16 teams in each division, it was a lot to take in but we did our best to key in on some of the top performers. So let’s take a look at some middles that took over the net!
Gravelle hits the ball with a seriously heavy arm. She is hard not to notice with her explosive style of play that makes a huge impact. Gravelle combines her height with a great reach and jumping ability to take her game to another level.
Sophia Barbie
Sophia Barbie
Barbie did a really nice job of hitting off the opposing block, especially when they left their hand up high trying to get touches. She did a good job of reading the play as it unfolded and a nice job of timing her blocks. Barbie had solid footwork and she showed that she can be an explosive offensive player as well.
Myhre has a lot of length and a very high contact point but I was impressed with her ability to expose the split in the block. She is athletic and she knows how to take control of the net. Myhre is not only a powerful offensive player but she is also intelligent and efficient as a blocker.
Braelyn Lange
Braelyn Lange
Lange did a great job of picking her spots to place her attack. She was very resourceful and did a nice job timing her attacks. Lange played with impressive intensity and competes with some very tall opponents without hesitation.
Sydney Peterson
Sydney Peterson
Peterson has really long arms and makes some really good decisions at the net. She puts up a big block with solid timing in order to win the tight plays at the net. Peterson has good footwork to move laterally along the net and doesn’t hesitate to go on a serving run from the endline.
Olivia Lemm and Brynn Panek Brynn Panek 5'11" | MB Albany | 2026 MN – Albany
Lemm and Panek are two middles that know how to get off the ground and in the air quickly. Lemm did a great job getting involved in a lot of plays and holding the opposing defense’s attention. Panek makes herself available to take a big swing at just the right time. She has excellent physical tools and she can put up a big block as well as hit a heavy ball.
Martin does a great job of getting up in the air quickly to take advantage of a fast tempo set. She also works hard to make sure she is available on most rallies. I really like Martin’s footwork and mobility at the net.
Anna Stromberg
Anna Stromberg
Stromberg is an intimidating presence to have at the net. She is very physical and pulls a lot of attention for good reason. Stromberg can be hard to stop because she hangs and throws the blockers timing off as well as can hit the ball at a high point because of her length and wingspan.
White was putting up a big block that was giving opposing attackers a really tough time. She has good footwork and a strong presence at the net. White is certainly a very reliable player to have at the net for KCC.
