As we've mentioned all week, the better teams are starting to take over our writings. We're deeper into our schedules, well into September, and fan bases are starting to get amped up. Here are five teams, including two not mentioned last week, and two players from each that have been turning heads this fall.

Welcome to the top five, Miners! Youth and experience are not two separate entities on this squad, as many kids play club from the younger ranks. The volleyball talent runs deep, starting with leading attacker [player_tooltip player_id='226810' first='Ella' last='Warrick'] ('26, 5-8 OH). She's currently second in 2A in kills in the state, and has that grind that you just don't see from kids much anymore, let alone one as young as she. [player_tooltip player_id='242112' first='Taryn' last='Thuis'] ('25, 6-2 RS) is the big blocker and attacker that most schools at this size don't have, and the Miners are certainly taking advantage.

#4: North Posey (13-2)

Another new addition to our weekly 2A list, the Vikings have experience for days, starting with senior setter-hitter combo Addison Fullop. She means so much to the program in so many ways that her name appears on multiple stat lists over the past couple of seasons. Ashton Elpers is an amazing senior libero for this squad, adding over six digs per set.

#3: South Adams (13-2)

The Starfires find themselves stuck in the middle of this list again, and aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Their outsides set the tone early, starting with senior Macy Pries ('24, 5-8 OH). This three-sport stud is the beginning and end of every conversation when wondering where the offense is coming from. Her fellow outside, Reagan Bollenbacher ('26, 5-7) is more spitfire than Starfire, and gets the job done in multiple sports as well.

#2: Burris (16-1)

The lone blemish for the Owls came over the weekend against Greenfield-Central, a 4A program with size and talent. No harm there for Burris, as the focus was probably on their county counterpart, Wapahani, this evening. [player_tooltip player_id='155089' first='Lilly' last='Howell'] ('25, 6-2 MB) brings the size and the Munciana training to the court, and is such a force night-in and night-out. [player_tooltip player_id='386146' first='Aubrey' last='Miller'] ('24, 5-6 OH) has one of the pin attacking positions locked up, and will keep defenses from keying on Miss Howell.

#1: South Central (18-0)

It's hard for me to move the Satellites from this spot right now, especially when Tatum Wade ('24, 5-10 OH) is leading the way. She's the #1 attacker by the numbers in 2A in the state, and still hits at a high efficiency rate even when everyone knows where the ball is going. [player_tooltip player_id='557011' first='Samantha' last='Marks'] ('26, 5-8 OH) is a nice complement on the pin as well, as Miss Wade is going to need a nice supporting cast to keep this undefeated streak going.
