A junior combo of hitters propelled the Seaman Vikings to a Class 5A state title in Salina as they knocked off the defending champion Saint Thomas Aquinas in straight sets.

Here is a look at top prospects who performed well for the final four schools in the 5A tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='173374' first='Meagan' last='Mills'], 6'1”, MB, Seaman, ‘25

Mills gets my vote for tournament MVP. She helped the Vikings reach the finals by racking up 10 kills and four blocks in the semifinal match against Maize South. Then in the championship game, she collected nine more kills, five digs, and two aces. When Mills gets on top of the ball it is difficult to dig her blasts. Mills is ranked No. 9 by Prep Dig in the Class of 2025 and she has verbally committed to play for Tulsa University after graduation.

[player_tooltip player_id='173373' first='Reagan' last='McGivern'], 6'2”, MH/S, Seaman, ‘25

There is not much McGivern can't do on a volleyball court. She is a dangerous player at the net and can also set when called upon. In the semifinal match against the Mavericks, she finished with nine kills. She added four more in the win over Saint Thomas Aquinas. McGivern has verbally committed to play for Villanova.

[player_tooltip player_id='119719' first='Taylin' last='Stallbaumer'], 5'8”, DS, Seaman, ‘24

Stallbaumer is a gritty player who has sneaky ups. She has committed to play for Johnson County Community College after high school. In the two final matches, she finished with a combined total of six kills, nine digs, seven assists, and five serve receptions.

[player_tooltip player_id='153937' first='Alea' last='Goolsby'], 5'10”, OH, St. Thomas Aquinas, ‘25

Goolsby had a great junior year and will have a chance to return to the tournament as a senior. Goolsby filled up her stat line in the championship loss to Seaman. Goolsby finished with a match-high 11 kills and added nine serve receptions and three digs.

[player_tooltip player_id='119725' first='Tatum' last='Grimes'], 6'2”, MB, St. Thomas Aquinas, ‘24

Grimes can do mean things to a volleyball. She is a physical specimen with a big reach. She finished with eight kills in the title match loss to Seaman. She is tall and is can block balls back across the net. Grimes plans to attend the West Point Academy and play volleyball for Army.

[player_tooltip player_id='119692' first='Sophia' last='Bond'], 5'7”, S, St. Thomas Aquinas, ‘24

Bond is a top-tier libero. She had a quality match for the Saints in the final match of the tournament. The senior finished with 10 serve receptions and five digs. Bond is set to play for Lehigh University after high school.

[player_tooltip player_id='119709' first='Gracie' last='Morrow'], 6'0”, OH/DS, Maize South, ‘24

The Mavericks did not end their season the way they wanted to, but they had an impressive tournament. Morrow is an all-around talented player. She finished with four kills, six digs, and one block in the semifinal loss to Seaman. She has committed to play ball at Wichita State University.

[player_tooltip player_id='153936' first='Jillian' last='Gregory'], 6'0”, OH, Maize South, ‘25

Gregory had two outstanding performances that I watched over the weekend. She finished with 13 kills and two blocks in a pool play match Friday against Lansing and then in the semifinal loss to Seaman she collected two kills, four digs, and eight serve receptions. She is currently the No. 4 ranked player by Prep Dig in the Class of 2025 and has verbally committed to Oregon State.

[player_tooltip player_id='150065' first='Camdyn' last='Stucky'], 6'1”, S, Maize South, ‘24

Stucky who is headed to play for the Tennessee Volunteers had a good semifinal match. She had six kills, three digs, and a block in the semifinal match. Stucky is currently ranked No. 6 in the 2024 rankings for the state of Kansas.

[player_tooltip player_id='119712' first='Shannon' last='Frakes'], 5'10”, OH, Spring Hill, ‘24

Frakes is a legit hitter. She entered the tournament with 229 kills in 69 sets played. Spring Hill lost to St. Thomas Aquinas in the semifinal round. Frakes has committed to play for Washburn University after graduation.

[player_tooltip player_id='216384' first='Keilah' last='Rivers'], 5'10”, OH, Spring Hill, ‘24

Rivers will be traveling to Topeka after high school with her teammate Frakes to play for Ichabods. Rivers entered the tournament with 325 kills and 249 digs. Both Rivers and Frakes could have an early impact on the Ichabod roster in 2024.

A junior combo of hitters propelled the Seaman Vikings to a Class 5A state title in Salina as they knocked off the defending champion Saint Thomas Aquinas in straight sets.
