Neriah Stephens, Niles
This middle has been active in a competitive schedule for Niles. She’s tallied 45 blocks on the season thus far, becoming a real defensive presence for the Vikings. Stpehens has had seven matches with at least three blocks to her credit.
Tessa Boomhour Tessa Boomhour 6'0" | MB Dexter | 2027 MI , Dexter
The Dreadnaughts are having a great year and this freshman middle deserves her share of the credit. She’s been able to impact a lot of opposing shots, tallying 43 blocks on the season. That included a season-high six blocks in a three-set win over Tecumseh early in September.
Sophia Smith Sophia Smith 6'2" | RS Marian | 2027 State MI , Marian
One of the many young players helping the three-time defending D1 champs this season, Smith has found a nice home for herself defensively. She has 36 blocks on the year. She’s had eight straight matches with at least one block, totaling 22 over that stretch.
Kate Sulkowski Kate Sulkowski 6'0" | MB South Lyon | 2027 MI , South Lyon
Sulkowski is part of a group of freshman helping the Lions be competitive in the Lakes Valley Conference this season. She’s got 34 blocks on the year, just being steady with her ability to get her hands on opposing shots. She’s coming off a nice 3-block performance against Marysville last weekend.
Ava Bush-Nelson Ava Bush-Nelson 6'1" | MB Jenison | 2027 State MI , Jenison
One of the dark horse teams in Division 1, Bush-Nelson is doing her part to keep Jenison right in the mix. The freshman middle has 32 blocks on the season and has really promising instincts at the net. Her future as a dominant blocker is high.
Kennedy Duncan Kennedy Duncan 5'10" | OH South Lyon | 2027 MI , South Lyon
Another of South Lyon’s impact freshman, Duncan has 26 blocks on the season. While more of a hitting focus for the Lions, Duncan has been getting better with her blocking. She’s had multiple blocks in six games this season, five of which came in September.
Leah Green Leah Green 5'11" | OH Detroit Country Day | 2027 MI , Country Day
The Yellowjackets are always producing solid young talent and Green looks to be part of the mix this year. She’s got 24 blocks this season as DCD has had to mix around the lineup. She really showed her potential when she had six blocks against Stoney Creek last month. She also put up four against Lake Orion in September.
Aubrey Reynolds Aubrey Reynolds 5'9" | OH Caledonia | 2027 MI , Caledonia
A strong contributor to the Caledonia program as a freshman, Reynolds sits at 23 blocks this fall. The hitting has been a steady part of her game, but the blocks are starting to come more frequently now for Reynolds. She had three in a tight match with Rockford last month.
Calli LeFevre Calli LeFevre 5'11" | OH Marian | 2027 State MI , Marian
Another promising freshman for Marian, LeFevre has been one of the team’s primary hitters this fall. Her blocking has come in flashes, but when she gets on a roll at the net defensively, she can make a big impact. She had three blocks in a match with Lake Orion last week and six blocks in an early matchup with Notre Dame Prep this fall.
Mallory Wandel Mallory Wandel 6'0" | OH Rockford | 2027 State MI , Rockford
Wandel is the next in a line of impact freshmen for Rockford. She’s one of the team’s go-to hitters and is taking on a big workload. The 6-footer is among the freshman kill leaders and also has 21 blocks this fall. Wandel had a nice stretch seven straight games with at least one block early in September. After a quiet stretch, she’s now recorded five blocks in her last three matches.
