We just kicked off our ‘new additions’ feature series with Part 1 on the latest Nebraska Class of 2026 rankings. You already know we have a lot more names to bring into the spotlight, so the series rolls on.
Here we go.
Look out for Bellevue East. Homan is one of several underclassmen helping out with the Chieftans this year, and she’s building on a strong club campaign with River City Jrs . It’s tough to run any offense against some of the state’s most formidable opponents, but Homan has not been deterred since taking over Bellevue East’s setting duties. That experience will pay dividends beyond the 2023 fall season.
Highlights
Omaha Westview is still very new to the high school stage, so we’ll jump at the opportunity to add players like Kachaturian to the watch list. The sophomore libero is anchoring the Wolverine defense this year and is meshing well with her teammates. Kachaturian’s presence will be valuable as Westview looks to establish a foothold in the ultra-competitive Omaha scene.
After harping on the successes of Johnson County Central a few times this year, it’s only fair that we give Lubben her due credit. She is having a dominant sophomore campaign that is highlighted by three kills per set on a scorching 0.376 hitting efficiency. The Thunderbirds know how to spread the ball around, and that offense gets even more lethal with Lubben reaching greater heights in 2023.
Standout setters keep finding the spotlight in our 2026 watch list. Masek’s impressive distribution has helped put Raymond Central back over 0.500 this year, and the best may be yet to come. The Mustangs have received over eight-and-a-half assists per set from their underclassman leader. Better yet, Raymond Central appears to be getting more comfortable with more reps and is on a bit of a hot streak as we approach mid-October.
Small-town Nebraska is clearly no stranger to stat-stuffing defenders. Paitz earned some valuable playing time as a freshman with Ansley-Litchfield last season, but her numbers have really taken off now that she has the libero jersey. Her four digs per set ranks among the best in her class, putting Paitz firmly on our ever-growing watch list.
We’ve seen several emerging stars on the Omaha Concordia roster this year. Perkinson’s debut in our 2026 rankings comes after the sophomore setter has been compiling over nine assists per set and some solid defensive statistics, too. The Mustangs have already improved on last year’s win total and will continue to progress with Perkinson at the setter spot.
Malcolm has remained a state championship frontrunner despite an underclassman setter needing to step up in the starting lineup. Powell’s entrance in the Clipper rotation has been a smooth one, and she’s racking up about eight assists per set while guiding Malcolm’s high-powered offense. Moreover, Powell’s willingness to dig some heat in the backcourt makes the Clippers a defensive juggernaut that can win in a variety of ways.
