Mill Valley the No. 2 seed ended up defeating the No. 1-seeded Blue Valley North to take the state hardware back to Shawnee.
Here is a look at some college prospects and signees who performed well in Salina.
Kaitlyn Burke Kaitlyn Burke 5'10" | OH Mill Valley | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, OH, Mill Valley, ‘24
Burke was my MVP for the championship match. She is quick and hits the ball with authority. She had a match-high 15 kills in the victory over Blue Valley North. She had four serve receptions, two blocks, and an ace. When the Jags had the Mustangs on the ropes it was Burke who threw the knock-out punch. She has committed to play for Loyola-Chicago after high school.
Riley Riggs Riley Riggs 6'0" | OH Mill Valley | 2027 State KS , 6’0”, OH, Mill Valley, ‘27
Riggs is a freshman that everyone needs to put in their memory banks if they follow prep volleyball. She played six rotations and as the Mill Valley faithful kept chanting “She’s just a freshman.” Riggs had seven kills, eight serve receptions, and three digs. Look for her name when Prep Dig Kanas releases rankings for the Class of 2027.
Ashlyn Blazer Ashlyn Blazer 6'0" | MB Mill Valley | 2025 State KS , 6’1”, MB, Mill Valley, ‘25
Blazer is an interesting prospect. She moves well for a tall player, and she can hit the ball hard. She had four kills and three blocks for the Jaguars. She is a prospect who would probably be a front-row-only player, but for sure an NAIA or JUCO level talent.
Janelle Green Janelle Green 5'9" | S Blue Valley North | 2024 State #68 Nation KS , 5’9”, S, Blue Valley North, ‘24
Green should change her name to Hermione Granger because she is a wizard on the court. She has some pure athletic skills. She can set, hit, dig, and is the inspirational leader for the Mustangs. Green tallied seven kills, four digs, and three aces in the semifinal win over Olathe Northwest. Then in the final match, she had seven digs, 15 assists, and another ace. She has committed to play at the University of Cincinnati after high school.
Logan Parks Logan Parks 5'11" | S Blue Valley North | 2025 State #8 Nation KS , 6’0”, OH/MH, Blue Valley North, ‘25
Parks’ best match that I witnessed was the semifinal win over Olathe Northwest. She went head-to-head with the top-two ranked hitters in Kansas and finished with 15 kills against the Ravens. She added 11 digs in that match to register a double-double. Parks is tall, quick, has a big reach, and can jump. She checks all the boxes Division I coaches should have on their scouting report.
Felicia Wu Felicia Wu 5'6" | S Blue Valley North | 2024 State KS , 5’6”, S, Blue Valley North, ‘24
Wu is a quick libero, who will do well at the next level. She came up just short of a double-double in the finals loss to Mill Valley with nine digs and nine serve receptions. Which was also the same total she had in the semifinal contest. Wu is currently ranked No. 45 in the Class of 2024 by Prep Dig.
Jenna McClure Jenna McClure 5'8" | OH Blue Valley North | 2025 State KS , 5’7”, OH/DS, Blue Valley North, ‘25
McClure was my favorite never-before-seen player in the tournament. This young lady understands the game and what she does not have in height, she makes up for in hustle. Versus Olathe Northwest McClure’s stat sheet included 21 serve receptions, six digs, and eight kills. For the life of me, I don’t know why the Ravens kept serving at her. In the final match, she had another eight kills, seven digs, and six serve receptions.
Skyler Pierce Skyler Pierce 6'3" | OH Olathe Northwest | 2024 State #4 Nation KS , 6’2”, OH, Olathe Northwest, ‘24
Despite not winning the state title Pierce and the Ravens once again were impressive. The No. 1 ranked player in Kansas racked up 19 kills, 20 serve receptions, and 8 digs in the semifinal loss to Blue Valley North. Pierce will be heading to Lincoln, Nebraska in the spring to play for the Cornhuskers.
Jillian Huckabey Jillian Huckabey 6'0" | OH Olathe Northwest | 2024 State #74 Nation KS , 6’0”, OH, Olathe Northwest, ‘24
Huckabey was a part of the one-two Ravens’ punchers on Saturday. She finished with 18 kills, five serve receptions, and four digs in the loss to the Mustangs. Huckabey is ranked No. 2 in the Class of 2024 and is expected to play collegiately with Florida International University.
Alex Klukvin Alex Klukvin 5'7" | DS/L Olathe Northwest | 2025 State KS , 5’6”, DS/L, Olathe Northwest, ‘24
Klukvin had a strong defensive match for the Ravens during their semifinal match. She registered a double-double with 12 digs and 12 serve receptions. She has committed to play for the Kansas State Wildcats. The Ravens took third in the tournament by defeating Blue Valley West in the consolation game.
Alex Myers Alex Myers 6'1" | RS Blue Valley West | 2025 State KS , 6’0”, OH’MH, Blue Valley West ‘25
Myers is very athletic and was one of the Jags’ main hitting threats during the tournament. She has verbally committed to play for Florida Gulf Coast. West as a team had a tough day and finished in fourth place after two losses.
