While Temple City’s standout senior, Taylor Yu, a future Stanford commit, stole the spotlight, the match also unveiled some promising talents in the young Huskies squad.
Let’s take a closer look at the key players on the court.
Cydnee Bryant
Cydnee Bryant
Cydnee Bryant, a towering 6’4 sophomore middle blocker, is a true force on the court. Her athleticism and passion shine brightly in every play. The moment you see her connect with her setter, you’ll realize her potential to become a top-notch Division 1 player.
Cydnee’s game is all about speed and power. When she swings, the force behind her hits is nothing short of intimidating. She can send the ball soaring over the block and place it precisely on either side of the court. What’s even more impressive is her ability to excel in tricky situations, connecting nicely from off-net sets.
While she faced the challenge of hitting balls set from behind her, she still managed to secure 8 kills, a testament to her skill and determination. Her timing is impeccable, and she never wastes an opportunity. Even when her swing isn’t ideal, she finds ways to contribute, often using a well-placed tip over the block.
But Cydnee’s dedication doesn’t stop when she’s subbed out of the game. From the bench, her passion for the sport remains unwavering. In every interaction with her coaches, she’s on a quest for improvement. During huddles, she actively seeks ways to enhance her passing, serve receive, and blocking game. Cydnee’s commitment to the game is evident both on and off the court, making her a standout player with a bright future.
I asked Cydnee about her passion and keeping her composure when battling a dominant outside hitter and she commented, “I am a very passionate and driven player as well as very competitive so it’s not easy to always keep my composure and keep going which I displayed a few times, but overall, I try my best to be calm, cool, collected and confident.” Cydnee will be playing club for Pipeline.

Although I’ve written about her before, this was my first in-person experience, and I can confidently say that the hype surrounding her is absolutely justified.
In the words of Michael DeLeon, “There is nothing she cannot do on the volleyball court.” Asia’s a sensational freshman with well-rounded skills, but what truly sets her apart is her on-court persona. She exudes leadership beyond her years, providing her teammates with a remarkable level of encouragement and reassurance. Her energy on the court is infectious.
What’s even more impressive is Asia’s coachability. After every touch of the ball, you can see her analyzing her mechanics and seeking ways to improve. When she’s uncertain, she quickly checks in with her coach for guidance. It’s a remarkable display of her dedication to the game that one is not able to appreciate in a highlight reel.
But there’s more to Asia than her skills and coachability. She has a unique swagger that’s all her own. Having grown up in the world surrounded by AUU basketball, you’ll recognize that Asia brings her own special charm to the court. After each kill, she confidently struts away from the net, leaving a unique and unforgettable mark on the game.
I had the opportunity to speak with Asia after the match, and I told her that once you reach the top of the talent, what truly distinguishes one athlete from another in the recruitment game is their on-court personality. I encouraged her to continue embracing her gift, as there’s no doubt that Asia’s future in volleyball is destined for greatness.
