NorCal Prospects Set to Turn Heads at StockUp Showcase
In this article:
The NorCal StockUp Showcase gives athletes a chance to be seen without needing a roster spot or a starting lineup to prove they belong. Every athlete who signs up gets evaluated, scouted, and streamed live on BallerTV, with no tryout required to get in front of college coaches. The event will be scouted by California Ranker Michael DeLeon, and San Francisco Signal, the professional volleyball team arriving in the Bay Area in January 2027, is adding to the showcase with a special player experience. Ahead of the showcase in Ripon on August 14, five prospects have already registered, and each one is at a different point in figuring out what recruiting looks like for her.
We are excited to welcome Jada Dunham. Jada plays middle blocker and outside hitter for St. Mary's High School and Spark Volleyball Club. Jada will be attending the showcase for more exposure, but she has already started emailing coaches directly. Her efforts have already produced a response. A coach reached out to her regarding an HBCU showcase she attended in Las Vegas, giving her a real signal that her outreach is landing somewhere specific. She continues to build on that momentum heading into StockUp, hoping this showcase will open even more doors for her.

Isabel Yeung joins the showcase with a clear sense of what she is looking for. She plays libero and defensive specialist for San Luis Obispo High School and 805 Elite Volleyball, and her path into recruiting has been a deliberate one. She started club volleyball about three years ago, improved quickly, and only began seriously considering college volleyball last year. She built highlight videos and started emailing schools a few months ago, but her list is narrow by design. She prioritizes academics and has reached out to schools with high academic standards, including NYU, UChicago, and several Ivy League programs. She has not heard back from most of them yet, and she is choosing fit over volume heading into StockUp.

Sophia "Phia" Gusman brings a plan to StockUp, even if her recruiting timeline has not officially started. She plays outside hitter, opposite, and defensive specialist for Manteca High Buffaloes and Pulse Volleyball Club, and her interest in playing college volleyball runs deep. She already has video and profiles on recruiting sites, but she is not rushing the process. Her plan is to start emailing schools and coaches after her JV season this October, once she has more film to show. At 15 years old and just starting JV this month, she is using this showcase to get ahead of that timeline before it even begins.

Leighann Ruiz steps into StockUp right at the start of her recruiting journey. She plays outside hitter and right side for River Islands High School and Rage 16 Carmelo, and she has begun identifying colleges she is interested in. She has also started emailing coaches with her high school schedule and information. She is early, and she is treating this showcase as one of her first real steps into the process.

Nya Cottonham is not thinking about emailing coaches yet, and that is exactly the point. She plays middle blocker and right side for Absolute Volleyball, with a year still ahead of her before high school even begins. Her focus at StockUp is getting on the radar early and learning what her game needs before recruiting becomes part of the conversation. She is looking forward to playing alongside older, more experienced athletes and using that exposure to figure out where she needs to grow. She already knows she wants in, and she is choosing to show up early rather than wait for an invitation.
