As you look at the rosters of those championship teams close to 20 percent of those who have signed up for the DMV 250 Expo appear on those rosters. Talent never sleeps. It just keeps on trying to get better. A big shout out to all the winners. Below is a brief scouting report of some of those players.
Georgetown Day
Tessa Fergusson Tessa Fergusson 6'1" | MB Georgetown Day School | 2026 State VA (middle) – At 6’1″ she has the height. She also belongs to the class of 2026 so expect a lot of growth in her game as well. For Georgetown Day she led her team in hitting percentage and was third in blocks. Currently she is not ranked, but this should change once the rankings are updated in December. I saw her play a little last year at the club level and she makes an impact at the net. Looking forward to watching her play.
Ella Higday Ella Higday 5'5" | DS/L Georgetown Day | 2026 State VA (defensive specialist) – Another player from the class of 2026. She did not appear to get a lot of playing time with the Mighty Hoppers. This will be my first time watching her play.
Highlights
Elizabeth Higday Elizabeth Higday 5'9" | S Georgetown Day | 2025 State VA (setter) – She belongs to the class of 2025. She played a backup role to Clara Yu Clara Yu 5'10" | S Georgetown Day | 2024 State VA , who usually set a 5/1. Clara happens to be one of the top setters in the region, but will graduate next year with a commitment to Columbia. Liz set a 5/1 for her club team and also does well in that department. She would be the favorite to take over the setter’s role next year. For Georgetown Day she brought a good serve to the court, finishing second on the team in aces. Based on what I saw of her at the club level she ranks number 47 in the class of 2025 and the 10th top setter in that class. She stands 5’9″ and brought good tempo to her hitters when setting the 5/1.
Holy Cross
Kate Bickel Kate Bickel 5'6" | DS/L Holy Cross | 2027 State VA (Libero) – This frosh was the libero for the Tartans towards the end of the season. She stood her ground as Holy Cross went undefeated during the season, winning the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) and finishing as the number one ranked team in the DMV area. There lacks a ranking for her but that should change once the December rankings come out. She will be a player to watch.
Sarah Jeremias Sarah Jeremias 5'11" | OH Holy Cross | 2025 State VA (left side) – Holy Cross won the WCAC thanks to the contributions of Emerson Sellman Emerson Sellman 6'4" | OH Academy of Holy Cross | 2024 State #5 Nation VA . But winning that conference championship did not happen her sophomore and junior seasons. This year she had some help from her left side counterpart Sarah Jeremias Sarah Jeremias 5'11" | OH Holy Cross | 2025 State VA who transferred to Holy Cross. She lists at 5’11”. On the 2025 rankings she sits at 79, but based on her performance with Holy Cross that ranking should rise. She plays six rotations while passing the ball well and playing good defense. She hits the ball with excellent velocity in both the back row and front row and seems to know where the empty areas of the court are. For Holy Cross she was second to Emerson in kills, but tops on the team in digs, as well as third in aces. Her bullet serve is tough to pass.
Richard Montgomery
Highlights
Ema Djordjevic Ema Djordjevic 6'0" | OH Richard Montgomery | 2025 State VA (left side/setter) – Finding a 6’0″ setter with a left handed swing would be high on anyone’s list. Ema set her Rockets to the Class 4 Maryland state championships. Not only did she set her team to the championships, but she also created offense on the right side with her hitting. She finished first on her team in kills, aces and assists and second on her team in digs. For her club team she did not set because her team needed her as a passer and to provide some offense with her back row attacks. She ranks fifth in my class of 20225. More repetitions as a setter would improve her tempo with the hitters. The United States national team has invited her to a number of their training development programs. For colleges who only follow club ball, they will not see her setting capabilities. Lots of diversity in her game.
Highlights
Ana Djordjevic Ana Djordjevic 5'7" | DS/L Richard Montgomery | 2027 State MD (defensive specialist/libero) – The little sister of Ema has not quite reached the height of her taller sister. She lists at just 5’4″ but looked a little taller as the season progressed. As a frosh she combined with Cassandra Bradley Cassandra Bradley 5'6" | DS/L Richard Montgomery | 2024 State VA to form an airtight back row. She serves well and could probably start at libero for most teams. Ana was tied for second on her team in serving aces. It would not surprise me to see her playing libero next year.
Cassandra Bradley Cassandra Bradley 5'6" | DS/L Richard Montgomery | 2024 State VA (Libero) – She is one of two players from the class of 2024 attending the DMV Expo. She currently ranks number 46 in that class, but every time I watch her play the rank gets higher. Expect another rise when the December rankings get updated. Seven of the ten liberos ranked in the top 50 have committed to Division I colleges. She passes nails, plays solid defense, provides a good out of system set to her hitters, uses her hands well when digging and setting, but most of all she is a good teammate to have on the floor and the bench. Definitely a player to put on your radar if you are looking for a libero/defensive specialist.
Flint Hill
Highlights
Alli Robinson Alli Robinson 6'1" | MB Flint Hill | 2027 State VA (Rigth Side) – Tough to come in as a frosh to a high school that has won five straight state championships. Make that six now. Alli started as the right side for the Huskies. At 6’1″ she can also play a little middle. She ranks 21 in our class of 2027, but that stock appears to be going up as her play improves. When she stands next to the 6’4″ Ryla Jones Ryla Jones 6'4" | MB Flint Hill | 2024 State #80 Nation VA they look almost equal in height. Her game is still raw but there is height to make an impact.
Langley
Highlights
Chloe Lin Chloe Lin 5'10" | OH Langley | 2026 VA (middle/outside) – The Saxons were a pretty stacked team, so Chloe did not get a lot of playing time. She belongs to the class of 2026,. Her height lists at 5’9″. She ranks in at number 127 based on what I saw of her with Virginia Juniors. Looking forward to watching a little more of her play. Chloe played a utility role for the Saxons playing middle and outside.
