Here are the uncommitted c/o 2024s in attendance at the 2023 Oregon Top 250 Expo.
Brecke, an uncommitted 6’2” middle blocker from St. Mary’s Academy, displayed her quick arm during positional work and hitting lines. She gets up and hits hard. She did a good job mixing up her attack location, making her hard to predict. She’s shown a lot of improvement in her game over the past year; I expect a lot of growth still to come throughout this club season.
Bravo is a 5’2” uncommitted DS/L from McKay High School. She stepped up as a leader from the start of the showcase and was an incredibly vocal participant during gameplay. She made good defensive moves during positional work, sprawling, diving, and running down ball after ball.
An uncommitted DS/L from Silverton High School, Jensen turned heads at the Top 250 Expo with her relentless pursuits on defense. Many court coaches made note of her impressive “no-quit” attitude, hustling hard and making outstanding defensive saves to keep the ball alive. These skills were seen during positional time and amplified during the scrimmages.
Lindsey is a 5’11” attacker from Westside Christian High School. With an explosive and fast approach, she was swinging hard during hitting lines. She displayed her ability to swing on a 3, 1, and slide set with ferocity. During scrimmages, she was not afraid to step in and set the second ball when needed.
Ochoa, a 5’9” DS/OH from Forest Grove High School, who chose to flex her passing skills during positional work. During scrimmages, she was an anchor for her team’s backrow play. She proved adaptable, getting thrown in whenever and wherever she was needed. She exhibited a positive attitude and consistent effort from the start of the showcase through the end. She made some exceptional defensive saves and had good reads on the attack.
Highlights
McDonald, an uncommitted DS/OH from Horizon Christian, opted to join the passers during positional skills and played across the backrow during gameplay. Her passing stayed consistent throughout the showcase in every facet of the game. During the serve-receive drill, her skill was noted as she consistently put up three passes. She was also an incredibly vocal presence on and off the court, leading and communicating constantly.
An uncommitted setter from Horizon Christian, McDonald showed up ready to compete at the Top 250 Expo. With soft hands, she displayed great control and setting range during hitting lines and scrimmages. When she made the occasional error, she bounced right back and kept her attitude positive. She also has a tough jump float she utilized to rack up tons of service aces and disruptions during gameplay.
