The Expo is a fantastic opportunity to gain momentum and make a name for yourself. It also is a great time to see where you stack up to other athletes regardless of class or school size. Here is a preview of some other athletes that will be in attendance on Saturday.
Class of 2025 5’2” DS/Libero Bryleigh Hofer Bryleigh Hofer 5'2" | DS/L Fremont | 2025 State NE from Fremont. Small, but mighty, Hofer was a vacuum in the back row this past fall. Hofer was at the Top 250 Expo last year and stood out to me with her hustle. She tallied 173 digs and served 40 ace serves for the Tigers this past fall. She has a lethal jump float that just dies as it crosses the net, putting other teams out of system quickly. She is quick in the back row and has fantastic footwork. It will be great to see how she stacks up with the other defensive dandies on Saturday!
Class of 2027 DS/Libero/Outside Hitter 5’8” Campbell Capece Campbell Capece 5'8" | OH Omaha Marian | 2027 NE from Omaha Marian. In her freshman debut she had 47 kills, 29 aces and 167 digs for the Crusaders. Capece does a fantastic job of keeping her platform to the target on defense. She also has a nice jump float that hits receivers about chest high, making them guess if it is in or out. Her serve was able to keep teams out of system several times throughout the season. It will be fun to watch this young player!
Class of 2025 5’2” DS/Libero Izzy Vlasek from Omaha Marian is a hustler in the back row for the Crusaders. She does a nice job of extending plays for her team. Izzy has 62 career aces and 252 digs. She played her defensive role well for a young Marian team this past season. What stood out to me watching her film was her hustle on each play and the way she covered her hitters.
5’11” Class of 2025 Middle/Outside Addie Stewart from Ponca. Stewart had a breakout junior season for the Indians this past fall. Quadrupling her kill total from her sophomore season to her junior season from 49 to 218 Steward was a force at the net. She also had 36 ace serves and 29 blocks. Stewart does a fantastic job of penetrating the net to camp on opposing hitters. She has a heavy arm and has improved a ton.
Teammate of Stewart’s and Class of 2027 5’8” Middle Ashtyn Pick Ashtyn Pick 5'8" | OH Ponca | 2027 NE had a breakout freshman season for the Indians. Pick had 169 kills, 246 digs and 23 ace serves. She has good court vision for a freshman and can spy the open spots. She takes big swings for being undersized for a middle and plays with quiet confidence. She is one to keep tabs on as she continues to grow and improve. It will be interesting to see how she matches up with other 2027’s at her position.
This is a quick look at a few players that are under the radar. They may have made some significant improvements and jumps in the statistical categories or are coming back from injury. It will be exciting to see what they can showcase on Saturday!
