River City Rumble
Earlier this month, the River City Rumble went down in Wichita, KS featuring seven teams. Fight Club 16-3 left the campus of Wichita State victorious, going 6-2 on the day, knocking down Crush Volleyball in the championship. Lauren McGinn Lauren McGinn 5'10" | MB Sedgwick | 2027 State KS and Taylor Froese played well in the tournament for the champions.
417 New Year Bash
The southwest side of the state of Missouri held a combined tournament on January 7th. The final match saw THR33 volleyball 17-1 takedown Apex 18-2 in a highly competitive match. The first two sets went extra points but the final set saw the 17s go on a big run to finish the deal 15-5. The team saw great all-around play and elevated their game defensively in the third set.
Midwest Jrs. 16 Premier
Topeka Saints 16-1 and Club North 16-1 embraced in a clash of titans in the championship of the Midwest Jrs. Premier tournament the first weekend of January. The Saints walked away with the title after escaping an intense match that ended 15-7 in three. These teams also had a crazy match in pool play where they split sets. One set went to 33! The Karsyn duo continued the strong play we saw during the high school season, Karysn Horyna and Karysn Hastert.
MWVB January Jam II
Every team in the region didn’t journey to Kansas City for the MLK tournament on the second weekend. In the combined 17s division, Pratt Impact 17-1 won the ten-team tournament, defeating Kansas Networks 17-4 in the finale. They dominated the third set 15-3 to clinch the title behind the play of Grace Hoffman and Kory Anschultz.
City of Champions
Olathe, KS, and Homefield Courts held the City of Champions tournament on January 20th for 15s, 16s, and 17s. The 17s saw Elite Volleyball 17-1 capture the title in the eleven-team tournament. They were perfect in pool play, not dropping a set. After receiving a first-round bye in bracket play, they took down 417 Columbia 17-1 in straight sets before dropping North Storm in the championship.
Invasion 16-2 had a spotless record to take home the hardware in the 16s tournament. They defeated a tough Club North 16-2 team in the final match to seal the deal.
ONE Volleyball 15-1 came out on top of eleven other worthy teams to grab the first-place medals in the 15s tournament. They wouldn’t drop a set during the day behind the play of Adin Asher and Micah Gillespie.
