Which Kansas Showcase Stars Are Making Early Prep Gains? (Pt. 2)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Why not drum up a few more summer memories?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>July's Missouri/Kansas Stock Up Showcase could be seen as my bridge into full-fledged coverage on the Prep Dig Kansas site. This was far from my first trip to Kansas City, but this stacked event was the perfect warm-up for the 2026 high school season. I still have a lot to learn about this prep scene, even after spending the past six years covering my native Nebraska. I'm humbled to have this opportunity.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Our showcase participants had the unique opportunity to make a lasting impression as I ramped up my Kansas presence. Avey has emerged as a stout setter prospect in the Wichita area, most recently representing KNVBC's top 17s group. Her resilience was tested after returning from injury, but Avey's showcase performance proved she's back to form. Bishop Carroll has soared to a 5-2 record behind Avey's team-leading assist total and her ever-present aggression in the frontcourt. Curry earned plenty of post-showcase shoutouts after demonstrating her versatility in early drills and six-on-six scrimmages. The Iola senior was eager to dazzle us in hitting lines, but she also brought a calm platform that excelled in the serve-receive pattern. She brings a little of everything to the Mustang lineup and notched four kills per set in an opening-day bout with Burlington. The Mavericks rolled to an 8-0 start with several familiar veterans occupying the box score. Hargrove, however, brings some youthful representation from the sophomore ranks. Like Avey, Hargrove can flex between the setter and pin positions, giving Maize South plenty of options for its lineup card. She has dished out a smooth offense out of the back row as the Mavericks picked up one sweep after another in Week 1. She made an immediate impression during our positional drills and converted that into competitive confidence in match play. Nash's steady platform and quick first steps have allowed her to carve a niche with St. Thomas Aquinas, one of Kansas' many powerhouses in Class 5A. She logged an impressive 11 digs in two sets against Shawnee Heights while also generating scoring opportunities from the service line. Carmel Catholic has a lot to like in the Class of 2029. Pauly joins a loaded group of sophomores that is determined to take the Crusaders to the next level. This agile athlete has a strong background as a middle blocker, but her work as an outside hitter has taken precedence since her showcase appearance. Pauly became a major out-of-system outlet as Mt. Carmel tabbed five opening-day wins in late August. She has a knack for scoring while off-balance and will take any open seams in the crosscourt. Wichita Heights has a fun collection of athletic, springy pin hitters, and Griggs fits right into that operation. She has primarily occupied the right side during early-season play, but our Stock Up Showcase brought Griggs' multi-pin presence into the spotlight. We can also expect Griggs to rack up plenty of passing reps with her innate ball control skills. This freshman campaign is the ideal setup to the upcoming club season with KNVBC 15 Showtime, which will surely be a group to watch.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
