Her tenacity and serving ability were a difference maker for the Mustangs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Power on the outside</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>L2 181 won't be lacking in a lot of power arms on the pins.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='110304' first='Cameron' last='Herman']</strong>, <strong>Abigail Mainka</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='153662' first='Catherine' last='Flaharty']</strong>, <strong>Alyssa Swanson </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='110280' first='Katie' last='Berry'] </strong>make up an impressive roster of arms for L2 to utilize.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Herman is coming off a big year for the Hartland program, leading it to postseason success in Division 1. She's got length and agility to make any shots you can ask for at the pin.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Flaharty is also from the Saline program where she had a breakout season for the Hornets. She plays very long at the net and knows how to find the openings in the defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mainka and Swanson both come from the Brighton program. Both are well-rounded players that can make key defensive plays while also being high-percentage finishers at the net.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Berry is coming off a strong year for the South Lyon East program. Playing on a team with a lot of size, Berry was the ultra-athletic, six-rotation outside that used her explosiveness to bring a lot of power shots to the net. She also covered the court very well defensively.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Size in the middle</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>L2 has a lot of size to work with in the middle behind Brighton's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='110331' first='Karlie' last='Vogelheim'], </strong>Howell's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='523648' first='Emerson' last='Baum'] </strong>and Flushing's <strong>Alyviah Wright</strong>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Vogelheim is a 6'1” imposing middle that gets her hands on a lot of opposing attacks and can bring down the hammer when the ball comes her way offensively.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Baum has good chemistry with her setters and is able to get a lot of high-percentage swings. She moves well around the net and has a great sense of timing.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wright doesn't have the same height as her peers, but she can vault off the floor and has a nice, high swing that allows her to add a couple of inches to her play at the net. Wright can hammer the ball and plays with good intensity.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Gage handling the setting</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brighton's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='110298' first='Lea' last='Gage']</strong> is the setter for this squad, bringing added athleticism and speed to the front line.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gage has been able to be a setter/hitter combo player during her prep career, but really excels as a setter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She's got a natural leadership quality on the court that her teammates feed off of.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Because of her hitting experience, Gage is always a threat offensively and she's definitely not afraid to be aggressive.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When Gage is locked in, this offense really cooks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
