Triple Crown was, yet again, one for the books.
The talent on display and the epic match-ups throughout the convention center did not disappoint.
Still reeling from all of the fun, let’s take a look at some of the biggest performers from the tournament. Who were the fab five outside hitters in the 18s division this year?
Jaidyn Jager – COAST
On the brink of losing in the finals, with ice in her veins, Jaidyn Jager would go behind the service line and was the difference maker. This player was making moves all weekend long, but if we’re looking at MVP performances, Jager’s in the championship match was huge. From serving to her pass and to her lethal attacking, Coast has a lot to thank to this player in their 18 Elite title.
Jadyn Livings – TAV
I have always been a fan of this player. For the bulk of her career, I have watched Livings rock it out on the left side. At Triple Crown she was rocking out as one of, if not, the best opposite in the place. She soars through the sky and brings down the hammer. When she’s able to get good grasp of the ball, there’s a no return label on it.
Elle Mortensen – Club V
Running all the way to a third place finish, Club V was looking solid. Behind the arm and back court play of Elle Mortensen, she can place her team on her back and run. As much as an effective scorer she is, Mortensen has a great sense of the back court which keeps V in a lot of plays.
Lauryn Lambert – MADFROG
This may be one of the most physical kids in the gym. And that’s saying something when you look at the stacked field around her. Lauryn Lambert is an absolute powerhouse. An electric arm, Lambert can crush the ball from about anywhere on the court. It come up huge this weekend in KC as she led Madfrog to another top five finish.
Layni Smith – Triangle
We’ve seen this player in just about every position possible throughout her career. Last year, Laynie Smith was rocking it out in the middle. Now, on the left side, Smith has not only kicked up the fire power, but she’s showing off some impressive back court chops as well.
