Day 1 of our first-ever Prep Dig Minnesota Slam certainly showed us some high-level athletes that you will want to watch this club season. Considering we are only 1 month into the 2024 club season some of these teams were in top form. I decided to share some notes taken today. Here are some players that stood out to me on Day 1.

[program_tooltip program_id='429199' first='Hometown' last='Heat'] 15-Gold

Heat kicked things off in their 3-team pool with 2 solid wins against North Country Region's SMV 15-2 Silver and SoDak Juniors 15-3. Chloe Jones is an outside hitter who just flies to the ball and takes a fast arm swing for the kill. Linley Regan does a great job as a middle seeing the opposing block and working around it. When the ball is near she takes a fast swing on the ball. In the backcourt Taylor Wucki, Libero, was consistently getting her hips under the ball on defense and creating a clean platform in serve receive.

Iowa One 17u Aly

Iowa were the 3 set champs in their pool today. They won in 3 against tough Stateline and [program_tooltip program_id='449749' first='Northern' last='Revival'] squads to kick off their pool before taking their sole match loss to [program_tooltip program_id='428662' first='Wisconsin' last='Ice'] 18 Prep. Sydney Grant does a great job taking the 2nd ball as the libero. She has great ball control and gets a TON Of touches on defense. Middle Blocker, Lindsay Kruse, has a great reach and smothering block. She hits above most of the opposing block. Outside Hitter, Brielle Volker, is a 6 rotation pin that makes athletic plays in both front and back row. She doesn't hesitate to hit high off hands to score at will. Setter and Right Side lefty, Myla Rosecrans, knows how to set up a strong block and gets a ton of touches. She does a great job finding a way to get the ball into her hitters' hands.

[program_tooltip program_id='449749' first='Northern' last='Revival'] 17

Revival battled in a tough pool to kick off the Minnesota Slam but ended their day with a 2-0 win. Outside Hitter, Ava Johnson, was cranking on the ball and bouncing balls off the opposing block for easy points. Libero, [player_tooltip player_id='492597' first='Cassie' last='Stark'], reads the play extremely well and has quick footwork and reactions on defense. Middle Blocker, [player_tooltip player_id='453685' first='Gabriella' last='Arntson'], was making really smart plays at the net and putting up a big block.

[program_tooltip program_id='428662' first='Wisconsin' last='Ice'] 15 National

Ice went 3-0 on Day 1 but definitely had to fight for it with 2 of their matches going to 3 sets. Middle Blocker, [player_tooltip player_id='510475' first='Ivy' last='Boelk'], is 6 rotation player that has a very high contact point and a fast swing to go along with it. I like her movement both in the front row and the back row. Outside Hitter, [player_tooltip player_id='510479' first='Makita' last='Ellenbecker'], was reaching high, and taking a fast swing down the line for the kill. Middle Blocker, [player_tooltip player_id='510481' first='Naquene' last='Ellenbecker'], was getting some great touches and working around the opposing block and finding open court.
