Here are some teams and players who definitely are turning heads due to their play. This series will highlight some players who we have seen in person and that we are adding to our list to watch this season.
CITY 15 Gold
Quite a few players stood out to me during the match I watched during the Triple Crown last month. This team is extremely tall and they play like seasoned veterans. I am always looking for awesome setters who lead their teams to greatness and I found one in Piper Chylinski Piper Chylinski 6'3" | S Mayfield Senior School | 2027 CA . It is going to be fun ranking these setters when we release the State Rankings because of how talented Piper and others are. She has the prototypical height and power to play in both the front row and back row. Her ability to control the ball with every touch tells me that she could be one of the best setters in the entire state. She is able to connect with her middles very well. Middle Vani Tatoulian is long and presses over the net very well on the defensive end. Right Side Evangeline Jeffries is very hard to score against at the net. She keeps her hands very high at the net when the ball is on the other side of the net. While Maya Harris Maya Harris 5'8" | OH Campbell Hall | 2028 CA might not be as tall as the other attackers on the team, her ball control and scoring ability are top notch on the left side. Halle Bryce Halle Bryce 6'2" | OH Adolfo Camarillo | 2027 CA is a six-rotation cheat code on the outside. This young lady can score from any location on the court and fills up the stat book in a hurry. While this club isn’t one of the blue bloods that you are used to seeing at the top of the results, you will for sure see this team for years to come. Get to know their names because they are going to be all over college coaches’ short list of players to watch.
Coast 16-1
This team is loaded with stars that will shine very bright against any opponent. Outside Sophia Towle is no stranger to this age group as she played up last season and is now with her true age group. She is bouncy and very talented all around. Her ability to play at a high level and lead by example is something that is helping this squad stay super competitive. Right side Mila Gehlen has some tremendous power in her attack. I watched the talented lefty unload some bombs against a one on one blocker and it was beautiful. She will definitely help spread out the attack to keep the middles guessing where the set will go to. Opposite Samantha Krystkowiak Samantha Krystkowiak 6'0" | RS Torrey Pines | 2026 State CA is another gem of a hitter on the right side. Not many teams have two bangers that split time in this position and that makes them very dangerous. Setter Bryce Buchner Bryce Buchner 5'11" | S Cathedral Catholic | 2026 CA really uses all of her hitters to keep the defense off-balance. In the match that I saw, they really tired out the opposing middles having to go pin to pin over and over to set the block. The other talented outside attacker on this team is Sarah Uebelhoer Sarah Uebelhoer 5'10" | OH Francis Parker | 2026 State CA . She can really bring some added heat to this wonderful offense. Libero Havani Embry moved very well in the back row and kept this team in system out of serve receive. Her ball control is top notch and she deserves some looks by recruiters. Coast will definitely be in the running for a spot at nationals this summer.
