5 ’11 ” Opposite and setter Brooke Larsen Brooke Larsen 5'11" | S CB Lewis Central | 2025 State IA from Premier 17 Gold is the total package. She is a great blocker, great jump setter and swings smart. She is able to see the floor really well. Larsen runs the quick tempo ball really well. Out of Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, she does a phenomenal job of showcasing her athleticism and volleyball skills for 17 Gold.
5’10” Elle Heckenlively Elle Heckenlively 5'10" | OH Gretna | 2025 State NE from Premier 17 Gold can jump out of the gym. She is able to elevate and put the ball down with force. She has the ability to swing over the block and such a quick, fast arm. She is a springy hitter that plays bigger than 5 ’10”. She will be a great leader and go to for the Gretna Dragons this fall.
Premier 17 Gold’s Libero Sierra Pokharel Sierra Pokharel 5'4" | DS/L Millard West | 2025 State NE has a great aggressive serve and went on a nice serving run. Her platform is great and picks up a lot of balls for Gold. She flies all over the floor and brings good energy to her teammates. The Millard West junior should have an outstanding senior campaign this fall.
Another 17 Gold standout is Hayden Hart Hayden Hart 5'10" | MB Gretna East | 2025 State NE . She does a little bit of everything in the front row too. She can play middle or manage the pins as well. She has a fast arm swing and brings so much energy to the floor. Hart can run the slide so well and has great jumping ability. She is able to get on top of the ball so fast. Love her athleticism!
Millard West teammate 6’1” outside and opposite hitter Halle Kerkman Halle Kerkman 6'0" | OH Millard West | 2025 State NE can jump and put the ball away quickly. Kerkman has a fast arm swing and can elevate over the block. She has a great line shot too. Love her aggressiveness at the net and she is not afraid to take that big swing. She is a go to hitter for 17 Gold and can bring the heat!
Libero Tatum Backmeyer from Nebraska Juniors 18 Black has a great serve. Backmeyer also does a great job of covering her hitters. She is strong in left back defense and will do whatever to keep a ball up. Her steadiness in the back row was a big asset to Nebraska Juniors 18 Black.
Drake commit 6 ‘1” and Nebraska Juniors 18 Black athlete Carolyn Maser Carolyn Maser 6'1" | S Grand Island Central Catholic | 2024 State NE is one of my favorite setters to watch ever since she was at the Prep Dig Expo a few years ago. She has great hands and makes setting look so effortless. She squares to her hitters so well and her back set is so flawless. Her size and length is a huge advantage at the setting position.
Premier 17 Gold ended up being the Midwest Power League 17 Open Champions for the season. Keep an eye for them as they head to Las Vegas in July as well! It was a great day to be in the gym at Kinetic with lots of high quality players!
