Our featured prospects attract attention and ‘likes’ from a diverse array of colleges, ranging from D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO. While highlight clips are informative, they can miss the essence of a player’s personality and character. At PrepDig, we take a proactive approach, encouraging our athletes to actively participate in their recruitment exposure within our articles.
When a player earns the title of ‘Prospect to Watch,’ we reach out, extending an invitation to share their unique voice and perspective. We firmly believe that this transcends mere highlights, offering colleges a deeper understanding of the athlete as a whole. This article also offers players, parents, and coaches a window into the character of our prospects. It’s with great pleasure that I present to you the voices of some of our standout Prospects to Watch.
My name is Peyton Recinos Peyton Recinos 5’4″ | OH St. Thomas The Apostle School | 2028 CA ! I am currently an 8th grader playing for SG Elite 15 Roshambo as a Outside Hitter/Libero. I started playing club when I was 7 years old as a libero and fell in love with the game instantly. It was about three years ago when my dream came true and I transitioned to the outside hitter position. That was about the time when I really started becoming serious about wanting to play volleyball in college.
My favorite quote from Kobe Bryant is, “Hard work outweighs talent every time.” Despite being an undersized outside hitter, I knew I would need to increase my vertical, get faster, and stronger to be able to compete.
So that is what I did! My training consists of club practices, running hills, plyometrics, agility, basic volleyball fundamentals, and increasing my volleyball IQ.
I want to inspire others that anything can be possible if you put the work in. I may not have the height or ability to hit the 10 feet line, but being able to accurately place my shots, tooling the block, getting touches on the block, and having strong defense skills I feel makes me just as effective as other outside hitters. Also, being able to play two positions gives me the ability to change positions if needed.
Finally, my goal is to play volleyball in college and be a part of the USA Women’s National Team to compete in the Olympics for a gold medal one day.
Upcoming tournaments:
Salt Lake City Showdown (4/6-4/8)
Regional Bid Event 5/4-5/5)
SCVA Championship (6/1-6/2)
Girls Junior National Championships in Vegas (7/8-7/11).

Hi my name is Luna Magallanes Luna Magallanes 5’3″ | DS/L Laguna Hills | 2027 CA from Laguna Hills High School Class of 2027. I am a Libero from Orange County, California. I started playing volleyball when I was about 7 years old because I wanted to be just like my older sister.
I connected with OCVC in 2020 when my first club team fell apart. I was introduced to the club director of OCVC when I was 12 and invited to be on one of their first girl teams. This year, I play at OCVC on the 15-1’s as a libero and I feel so lucky to be a part of this team. This year we have added a coach that played libero in college so now I am getting extra technique work and tips on how to be the best libero I can possibly be. It is really important to have good coaches and directors that support you and I think OCVC displays that concept perfectly. Everyone at this club is so welcoming and supportive and will truly help you become your best.
Apart from volleyball and in honor of being Argentinian, I am working on my goal to receive my Spanish Language equivalency Diploma from Spain in 2027. I have been in the Immersion Program for 10 years already and am planning to be in it through senior year. As a part of my dual English and Spanish immersion studies for proficiency in reading, writing and speaking in both languages, I will finish high school passing those exams!
Back to volleyball, I just came back from the Caribbean Volleyball Championships in Puerto Rico where my team finished 3rd in the Open division. I look forward to finishing in SCVA D1 this year and continuing to improve my volleyball skills.
I would be thrilled if any college coaches would come to our court and check me and my team out while we are at the Salt Lake City Showdown qualifier in April, SCVA Event #4 in April, USAV girls junior National Championship in Vegas in July, Battle of the Bids in Orange County in May, SCVA Championships in June, and any local scrimmages at OCVC, which is located at Open Gym Premier in Ladera Ranch.
My goal is to be a libero on a very special starting roster of a university where I finish my bachelor’s degree debt free after 4 years.
At 5’3”, there may be less opportunities for me to come, but as my coach said, “play tall and give your 100% while you’re on the court”.
I Hope my scrappiness and never-give-up attitude with every play will catch your eye.
Gracias!

I am currently a 6-rotation OH/DS on Absolute Volleyball’s 15 Black (15-1) team in Marin County, California. Last year, my team, 14 Black finished 9th in the nation in the Open Division.
While I may be on the shorter side for an outside hitter, I think I make up for it with the strong court IQ, craftiness, excellent passing and defense, and energy I bring to the position.
Volleyball is more than a game to me. It is my life. I love being in high pressure situations and coming through for my team because I believe we win and lose as a team; there is no ME when it comes to Volleyball, only WE.
Please come see me play in person, I will be at the following events:
Salt Lake City Showdown Qualifier in Salt Lake City, UT – Open Division – April 6-8, 2024
Far Western National Qualifier in Reno, NV – Open Division – April 26-28, 2024
USA GJNC, Las Vegas, NV – Open Division (hopefully) – July 7-11, 2024
